The uMgungundlovu TVET College Student Representative Council (SRC) is honored to participate in the Annual National Student Leadership Program hosted by Elangeni TVET College in Pinetown Campus. This significant programme is aimed at enhancing student governance practices as well as promoting a student centred teaching and learning environment through meaningful engagement on issues affecting students across the TVET sector.

Through shared experiences, our student leaders continue to build the skills and knowledge needed to effectively represent and serve the student community.

Celebrating Excellence

Like stars that shine brightest after a long night, excellence reveals itself through dedication, passion and unwavering commitment. UMgungundlovu TVET College will be celebrating its exceptional staff members at the Staff Awards Ceremony on 23 September 2026.

The ceremony is aimed at recognizing individuals who have demonstrated outstanding performance, professionalism and dedication in their respective roles at the College.

UMgungundlovu TVET College students showcased remarkable talent, discipline and sportsmanship at the COSACA KZN Provincial Ball Games, hosted by Esayidi TVET College at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Port Shepstone.

Their commitment in both netball and soccer paid off, with several athletes earning provincial recognition.
Congratulations to Ziyanda Khuzwayo and Ntokozo Ngubane on their selection to the KZN Netball Team.

Our campus was buzzing with excitement as community members and learners from various schools joined us for Open Day.

One of the key highlights of the presentations was the introduction of Occupational Programmes (OCs) which have been developed in consultation with industry partners to ensure they respond directly to current and future workforce needs. UMgungundlovu TVET College hosted a Student Safety Awareness Campaign at Msunduzi Campus. The campaign was aimed at educating and empowering students on important safety matters including personal security, crime prevention, gender-based violence awareness, substance abuse prevention as well as emergency response procedures.

Through informative presentations, interactive discussions and engagement with relevant stakeholders and law enforcement agencies, students gained valuable knowledge and practical skills to help them make safe and responsible decisions. This initiative reflected the College's commitment to creating a secure, supportive, conducive and student-centred learning environment for all students of uMgungundlovu TVET College.

In celebration of August TVET Month, Edendale Campus held an Open Day aimed at showcasing the diverse educational and career opportunities available through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The event attracted students from various schools across Pietermaritzburg, providing them with an opportunity to explore the campus, interact with lecturers and current students, gain valuable insight into the programmes and facilities offered at the college.
Through informative presentations, exhibitions and guided tours, learners were encouraged to consider TVET education as a pathway to developing practical skills and preparing for future careers.
