Inkosi Ndlovu ka Thimuni and iNkosi Meseni ka Musi (Meseni ka Musi/Qwabe) emerged as important local leaders who sustained resistance after the major defeat of Inkosi Bhambatha’s forces at Mome Gorge on 10 June 1906. Following the colonial announcement that the rebellion had ended, a renewed outbreak of resistance developed in the rolling hills of Maphumulo between 19 June and 12 July 1906, surprising colonial officials who had already begun withdrawing troops. This phase was marked by scattered but determined attacks on colonial forces and collaborators.
