GRADE 8 DEBATING SUPERSTARS!

A huge congratulations to our incredible Grade 8 debating team who took on Pietermaritzburg Girls' High School (GHS 2) recently at Maritzburg College and came away with a phenomenal WIN!

A special shoutout goes to Lisa Ngcobo, who walked away with the well-deserved title of Best Speaker for the debate!

What makes this team truly extraordinary?
• Every single girl on this team has now been awarded 'Best Speaker' in at least one of their debates this season!
• They have only lost ONE single debate in the highly competitive PMB Debating League all year.

Remember, this is their very first year in high school and for some, their very first year ever debating! Talk about a powerhouse squad.

We are extremely proud of your unwavering dedication to the code, girls. The future of debating at Alexandra High is incredibly bright! Keep shining!

BROTHERS UNITE!

Last week Wednesday, our young men gathered for a powerful all-boys assembly hosted by the Man Up team. The theme of the day was centered entirely on brotherhood, standing together, and taking pride in who we are.

Our boys were inspired by moving words from both our dedicated school staff and the Man Up team, reminding them what it truly means to be strong, respectful, and proud of the uniform they wear.
To seal this commitment, the boys, alongside our Principal and the Captain of Man Up, signed an official pledge. This isn’t just a piece of paper, it’s a promise they will recite, remember, and live out daily.

This marks the launch of our new monthly male-led assemblies, where our staff and mentors will continue to guide and grow our boys into fine young men.

Hardwork deserves a shout out!

Today’s Grade 11 Effort and Progress Assembly was a big moment for our pre-matrics. Mrs. Pillay shared a heartfelt talk, speaking to everyone with the care of a parent about the road ahead.

She reminded everyone that Grade 11 is the vital first step toward securing a spot in higher education. Every bit of effort put in now counts toward that goal, and while we celebrate how far you have come, reaching those future dreams requires total focus and discipline.

Congratulations to every student pushing their boundaries and putting in the work. Your dedication today is building the bridge to your success tomorrow!

Hardwork deserves a shout out!

Today’s Grade 10 Effort and Progress Assembly proved just how much heart this group has. The competition was incredibly tough this term it was a real nail-biter for everyone involved.

While the margins were narrow, the growth we witnessed was massive. We gathered to honor the resilience it takes to keep pushing when things get difficult, reminding ourselves that we celebrate the climb as much as the peak.

Hardwork deserves a shout out!

Today’s grade 9 Effort and Progress Assembly was a powerful reminder of what makes our school community so special. While trophies and top marks are wonderful, there is something even more vital to a student's journey. The courage to keep trying.

As we gathered to honor those who have shown incredible resilience and dedication, one message stood out, “We celebrate effort, not just results.”

Congratulations to every student who pushed past a challenge, stayed late to master a new skill, or improved their personal best.

Your hard work is the true success story!
