As part of the KZN Archives, the Isivivane SoLwazi – Digitisation Dialogue Coalition (ISDDC) successfully held its inaugural webinar today.

The session included a brief overview of the ISDDC, followed by an open feedback discussion. This was then followed by a focused session exploring the KwaZulu-Natal Archives file-naming convention and outlining some of the future plans for system rollout within the digitisation environment.

We will be sharing details of upcoming webinars in the coming weeks and encourage continued engagement from stakeholders across the GLAM sector. Participants are also welcome to suggest future topics for discussion, which will help shape upcoming engagements based on sector needs and input received through the registration process.

The LIASA Digitisation Community of Practice warmly invites you to participate in an upcoming webinar, on 8 May 2026, from 09H00 until 10H00, aimed at bringing together colleagues working in the digitisation space. This Community of Practice provides an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and build a strong professional network among practitioners across South Africa.

As we launch activities for 2026, our focus will be on exploring South Africa's capacity for digitisation, particularly in terms of equipment and governance. This webinar will form part of the KZN Archives contribution to Archives Awareness week raising awareness of the importance of our Archive heritage.

Reinhardt Hartzenberg will provide an insight into the digitisation capacity of the KwaZulu-Natal Archives and Records Service. He leads the Digitisation and Data Preservation Unit and initiated the Isivivane SoLwazi – Digitisation Dialogue Coalition (ISDDC), an initiative focused on collaboration, shared learning, and building resilient communities of practice across the heritage, archives, and information management sectors.

The webinar is open to all. Please use the link below to register and receive access details:
