EFF YOUTH COMMAND STATEMENT ON DEREGISTRATION.

The Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command Qwaqwa campus branch is cognizant of the approaching deregistration cut-off date. The reality of the matter is that the majority of students must remain registered while they continue awaiting possible bursary confirmations, be it Nsfas and other funding.

We remain unopposed in our view that the institutional student representative council must intensify through militant and robust engagement with management regarding postponement of deregistration. The current timeliness not only creates academic fear but also a threat in excluding the financially marginalized and the working class students who are still pending confirmation on bursary, particularly those who appealed Nsfas and so on.

We also extend a direct plea and responsibility to students who are in a better position to pay the amounts they committed on the acknowledgment of debt form ( AOD) to honor those agreements. Settling these amounts doesn't necessarily help you remain registered for this academic year, but it conveys a strong and clear message of cooperation that indeed black poor students remain committed with their education and meeting the university halfway.

While this corporation will help SRC to facilitate and strengthen its argument when negotiating that provisional registration shouldn't be phased out, it's our stance as the EFFYC that the privilege to education cant be subjected to financial constraints .

We hope the ISRC identifies amicable ways in finding a common ground with management to extend the deregistration date.

Yours in economic struggle.

*♦️EFFYC UPDATE ON PENDING UNADDRESSED STUDENT ISSUES♦️*

The EFFYC would like to update students on critical matters affecting their academic and living conditions. As a progressive student formation, we remain unapologetic in our commitment to fighting for the rights, dignity, and welfare of all students.

*PA STATISTICS UPDATE*
> approved : 4390+
• Resubmits: 19
• Incomplete: 72

Resubmitted statuses primarily relate to outstanding tenant verification lists, which are currently being followed up directly by UFS with landlords and relevant stakeholders.

Students with incomplete statuses are strongly advised to urgently address the stated issues and resubmit their applications. The final deadline is 10 April, and this serves as the last opportunity for consideration.

*APPROVED PA NOT REFLECTING*

Upon review, EFFYC enquired from finance and they confirmed that students who were approved in late March (up to around the 20th) will receive their payments at month-end. This follows the standard payment cycle and is not strictly tied to the 25th as previously communicated.

*RECENTLY ALLOCATED (NSFAS STUDENTS)*

Students who were recently allocated, particularly within the past two weeks, are informed that engagements have been made with Financial Aid regarding their allowances. We are currently awaiting confirmation on payment timelines.

*RESIDENCE WATER ISSUES*

The EFFYC remains fully aware of the perennial water challenges affecting residence students, an issue that has persisted for over five years. There are instances where the entire campus is left without water, placing students in unacceptable conditions.

We call on management to implement a permanent and sustainable solution. It is unacceptable for an institution like UFS to rely on temporary measures such as JoJo tanks instead of ensuring consistent running water.

Water must be available 24/7, and the continued reliance on municipal challenges as an explanation will no longer be accepted.

EFFYC Statement ( Delay of Student Allowances)

The Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command under Qwaqwa Campus notes with concern the prevailing delays in the disbursement of allowances (Nsfas), particularly affecting Nsfas recipients.
This matter has created frustration and financial strains for many students who rely on these money for their daily survival.

Following these unforeseen delays, we exhausted channels within our ranks and made the necessary inquiries to establish the main cause, which resulted in this discrepancy.
From the information presented to us, it was initially communicated that there had been a prior request for payments to be processed before public holiday period approaches. However, it has since emerged that this request was not honored by the financial aid.

The explaination received advanced that the university has, over the previous years, been exposed to a risk where NSFAS confirms funding for students and later reverses or defund them, after the university has already allocated its own budget to pay students. As a result of this historical trend, the university resolved that allowances would only be processed after final confirmation from Nsfas has been issued.

While this may justify the administrative reasoning behind the unpaid allowances, it does not reduce the burden placed on students, nor does it excuse the failure and poor handling of communication around such a sensitive issue.
Furthermore, the interruption brought by the public holidays, together with the turnover time required by Fundi to transfer allowances into bank accounts, has increased the delay.

The EFFYC, therefore, calls on the SRC to establish a very clear and strong channel of communication with students, especially on issues of this magnitude.
Students must not rely on rumors,or unverfid assumptions, and src corridor gossip while there's media office responsible.

The EFFYC has received intel and learned that Zoleka ha recruited intelligence from USA charging not less than R500 000 + to infiltrate and disrupt THE EFFYC fb platform through external experts, this decision further proves to out allegations, clearly an apple doesn't fall far from its tree and also this underscors the concern about the executives director family priorities which she trying by all means necessary to put under carpet.

In her tenure as director of student affairs, she has never made meaningful contributions of supporting financially struggling students to register shed rather misuse university resources for personal enrichment. Clearly, people from Eastern Cape reflect a disturbing trend and mutation of corruption over public interests.

Our message to director ,an idea that has arrived will not be stopped by a single female who masquerades as a danger and threat because of her proximity to university resources.

The EFFYC, through its intelligence and ears, who assist in exposing corruption happening in those power corridors ,we are well informed there's an open allocated budget of Millions brought forward to trace the admins of the EFFYC page this proves the information published through our progressive platform is accurate and disturbing their sleeping patterns, this budget being wasted on shielding the truth should be channeled into helping students register not personal agendas.

We are soon going to write to Vc And blow a whistle on how Did Tebza Manchu the Deputy principal manage to occupy a position from almost 2009 (permanent ) ,while other staff members are required to reapply and renew and be denied at the sametime.

We reiterate and stand our grounds Tebogo Manchu is no the best Deputy principal the university can produce ,he is anti-student centered, that's why he has deployed two different private security companies that he's receiving brown envelopes from to install fear to students leaders who aimed picketing peacefully and unarmed.

It has reached our ears that Tebza is holding them by sc***um since the university land belongs to his family. We are also in the process of carefully reading and interpreting the statute of the university if it allows a permanent post.

A detailed digital receipt will be shared once the matter has been confirmed received by the parliament.

More allegations have surfaced to our direct messages from former staff members deliberately sidelined for positions they qualified for, Mr. Mdluli, a Housing and Residence affairs Guru who is now faced with pending investigations, may have overused his position to handpick individuals with personal connections and sexual ties. Reports suggest he facilitated a position for Nokulunga Ndlovu at the Off campus office allegedly linked to him, and Residence Head Sibongile Xaba identified to have been dating for the longest time and pleasing each other after working hours.

Nokulunga Ndlovu was employed contractually alongside Reitumetse Mofokeng and Thapelo Moletsane. However, when their contracts expired, only Ndlovu's was renewed, reportedly due to her connections with Mdluli and Xaba. Mofokeng and Moletsane are now unemployed.

These allegations are part and parcel of the ongoing nepotism and abuse of power at the university that constantly continues stealing money of students.

Revolutionary greetings

The EFFYC since it has decided a bold move to dismantle and expose corruption, the platform we've created has been identified as a safe space to individuals who have witnessed this corruption hapoen under their presence, a verified former staff member has comeforth in disclosing what we call corruption and the looting of private accommodation allowances denying students money while claiming their allowances without their consent.

We've further advised the personnel to utilize the UFS whistleblowing process which doesn't favor or defend corruption, soon these individuals will account ,mainly involved In ghost landlords and corrupt officials, identified as Mr Mdluli ,Miss Seekane and Mr Nyathi as well as Ausi Nthabi from the Financial department

It is alleged that individuals are listed as landlords and verified properties linked to ghost landlords ,also direct involvement of HRA officials and finaid bribes taken to fast tracking applications ausi Nthabi.

These fraudulent activities have estimated to amount close to around R1-2 million between the years 2021-2023.

An email will be directed to the whistleblowing stream of the university, ensuring these greedy people account.
We implore any individual who has witnessed corruption in the university to report using the whistleblowing email attached .
