EFF YOUTH COMMAND STATEMENT ON DEREGISTRATION.
The Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command Qwaqwa campus branch is cognizant of the approaching deregistration cut-off date. The reality of the matter is that the majority of students must remain registered while they continue awaiting possible bursary confirmations, be it Nsfas and other funding.
We remain unopposed in our view that the institutional student representative council must intensify through militant and robust engagement with management regarding postponement of deregistration. The current timeliness not only creates academic fear but also a threat in excluding the financially marginalized and the working class students who are still pending confirmation on bursary, particularly those who appealed Nsfas and so on.
We also extend a direct plea and responsibility to students who are in a better position to pay the amounts they committed on the acknowledgment of debt form ( AOD) to honor those agreements. Settling these amounts doesn't necessarily help you remain registered for this academic year, but it conveys a strong and clear message of cooperation that indeed black poor students remain committed with their education and meeting the university halfway.
While this corporation will help SRC to facilitate and strengthen its argument when negotiating that provisional registration shouldn't be phased out, it's our stance as the EFFYC that the privilege to education cant be subjected to financial constraints .
We hope the ISRC identifies amicable ways in finding a common ground with management to extend the deregistration date.
Yours in economic struggle.
