On 27 and 28 May, our Grade 2 learners enjoyed an unforgettable adventure at Dirkies Fun Farm! From feeding friendly goats and riding in a horse-drawn carriage to bravely climbing aboard camels, every moment was filled with excitement, laughter, and discovery. 🐪🐖🐐🦙🫏

One of the highlights of the day was meeting a very special movie star, making the experience even more magical! 🤩

Drakies blink uit by die Master of Spelling-kompetisie! 🏆📚

Die Master of Spelling-kompetisie se streeksrondte het op 30 Mei by Vulintaba plaasgevind. Ons leerders het saam met twee ander skole aan hierdie rondte deelgeneem en ons is ongelooflik trots op die wyse waarop hulle Drakies verteenwoordig het.

🌟 Awande Mbatha (Graad 5)
🌟 Angel Kamukapa (Graad 5)
🌟 Siphesishle Mahlaba (Graad 5)

🌟 Alondwe Nonjiko (Graad 6)

We are especially proud of the following learners who have qualified for the provincial round, which will take place at Vulintaba in September:

🥈 Okhule Kubheka (Grade 4) – Achieved 2nd place on the day and is among the Top 10 participants advancing to the provincial round.

🥉 Siphesishle Mahlaba (Grade 5) – Achieved 3rd place on the day and is among the Top 10 participants advancing to the provincial round.

🏅 Emihle Buthelezi (Grade 6) – Performed exceptionally well and is also among the Top 10 participants who will compete in the provincial round.

Congratulations to every learner who participated. Your dedication, hard work, and courage to take part are achievements in themselves. We are incredibly proud of you and wish those advancing to the next round every success.

By Drakies is ons ongelooflik trots op elke leerder wat die uitdaging aangepak het en ons skool met selfvertroue en trots verteenwoordig het. Julle harde werk, deursettingsvermoë en bereidwilligheid om jul stemme te laat hoor, is iets om op trots te wees. 🏆

We are incredibly proud of two of our talented Drakies, Ju-Mari Grunschloss and Layla Voigt, who have represented themselves with excellence in recent gymnastics competitions. 🤸‍♀️

On 23 May 2026, both girls competed in the Newcastle Gymnastics Academy Levels 1 - 3 Competition. Their hard work and dedication paid off, with Layla Voigt earning a silver medal in Level 2 🥈 and Ju-Mari Grunschloss securing a bronze medal in Level 2 🥉.

Hiermee het hul prestasies nie geëindig nie. Op 30 Mei 2026 het hierdie vasberade jong gimnaste verder deelgeneem aan die Pietermaritzburg Gymnastics Invitationals, waar hulle weer eens hul vaardigheid, deursettingsvermoë en liefde vir die sport ten toon gestel het. 🌟

By Drakensberg is ons uiters trots op hierdie twee meisies en die talent, volharding en goeie sportmanskap wat hulle voortdurend uitleef. Hul prestasies is ‘n bewys van wat met harde werk, toewyding en passie bereik kan word. Ons moedig hulle aan om aan te hou streef na uitnemendheid, hul besondere talente verder te ontwikkel en hul gimnastiekdrome met selfvertroue en vasberadenheid na te jaag. 🤩

Ons is ongelooflik trots op PJ van der Merwe in Graad 2, wat onlangs aan die Greco-Roman SA Kampioenskappe deelgeneem het. 🤼

Met ‘n totaal van 36 deelnemers in die o/8-afdeling en 5 deelnemers in sy gewigsklas, het PJ uitstekende deursettingsvermoë, dissipline en sportmanskap getoon. Sy harde werk is beloon toe hy ‘n uitstekende 3de plek in sy gewigsklas verower het. 🥉

At Drakies, we are extremely proud of PJ's achievement. He is proof that dedication, courage, and hard work can lead to great success. We encourage him to keep dreaming big, working hard, and always giving his best. This accomplishment is just the beginning of what we believe will be a very successful sporting journey. 🌟
