Vanoggend het ek stilgestaan met my kamera, en soos die golwe ritmies teen die kuslyn dans, het ek gewonder oor die stories van dié plek.

Voor my: die kleurvolle huise van Mosselbaai elkeen met sy eie stem, sy eie mense, sy eie lag en trane. Kinders wat in die strate speel, wasgoed wat in die wind waai, en ’n gemeenskap wat elke dag die lewe aanpak, al is dit soms moeilik.

Agter dit alles: die oseaan kalm, maar sterk. Twee skepe dryf rustig in die baai, soos wagters van die see. Ek wonder waarheen hul pad lei. Watter lande hulle al gesien het. Watter lading hul dra. Watter hoop hul bring.

En in die verte die berge, gehul in ’n sagte mis, soos geheime wat nog nie vertel is nie.

Dis in sulke oomblikke wat ek besef fotografie is nie net om ’n beeld vas te vang nie. Dis om ’n gevoel, ’n oomblik, ’n storie te deel.
