π± Growing Skills, Confidence and Independence π±
Our Adult Care group at Mossel Bay APD in Grootbrak recently participated in a wonderful self-development activity focused on gardening and life skills.
As part of the activity, participants learned how to prepare seed trays, work with soil, plant seeds correctly, and care for young seedlings that will eventually become part of our vegetable garden.
The session was not only about planting vegetables, but also about learning patience, responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of nurturing something from the very beginning.
Hands-on activities such as gardening provide many benefits for persons with disabilities. They encourage independence, improve concentration, develop fine motor skills, promote physical activity, and create opportunities for social interaction.
Most importantly, they help build confidence as participants see the results of their efforts grow over time.
At Mossel Bay APD, we believe that every person deserves opportunities to learn, develop new skills, and participate meaningfully in their community.
Through activities like these, we continue to create an environment where our members can grow, learn, and thrive.
We are proud of the enthusiasm and dedication shown by everyone who took part in this activity. We look forward to watching these seeds grow into a flourishing vegetable garden that will serve as a reminder of what can be achieved through learning, teamwork, and perseverance. πΏπ
