The community of Evaton will now benefit from a modern, state-of-the-art healthcare facility designed to improve access to quality healthcare services in a safe, spacious and patient-centred environment.

This follows the handover of the newly built and expanded Tlhokomelong Clinic to MEC for Health and Wellness, by the Minister of , .

Thanks to Seriti Coal, Tlhokomelong Clinic has been completely rebuilt and significantly expanded, featuring additional consulting rooms, administrative offices, a larger pharmacy, an emergency unit, a dedicated kitchen, ventilation, back-up generator, upgraded restrooms, a spacious reception area, and a bigger patient waiting area amongst others. The facility has also been equipped with new flooring, electrical infrastructure, furniture, desks and other essential fittings to enhance service delivery.

This major upgrade forms part of government's commitment to strengthening primary healthcare services, improving the quality of care, and ensuring that communities receive healthcare services that uphold the Batho Pele Principles.

MEC said that the Gauteng Department of Health is also working to strengthen emergency response services in the area, including plans for an ambulance base, while ensuring healthcare facilities are properly maintained and remain responsive to community needs.

Feotal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a condition that happens when a baby is exposed to alcohol during pregnancy.

This week, awareness was raised about Feotal Alcohol Syndrome and the dangers of drinking alcohol during pregnancy. The week ended with a final interview on Rainbow FM with Ms Sarah Lebea, continuing the conversation on the importance of avoiding alcohol during pregnancy.

Pregnant women are encouraged to avoid alcohol completely, as there is no known safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy. Choosing not to drink helps protect the baby’s development and gives them a healthier start in life.
