Mahikeng Local Municipality continues to accelerate service delivery through strategic infrastructure development, with significant progress currently underway on a road construction and upgrade project in Ward 11.

The project forms part of the municipality’s broader commitment to improving road networks, enhancing accessibility and creating safer transport routes for residents. Once completed, the upgraded road will improve mobility, facilitate access to essential services and contribute to local economic development within the community.

As part of the road widening process, construction teams are currently undertaking excavation work within sections of some residential properties located along the project route. The work involves the use of a TLB (tractor-loader-backhoe) to excavate designated areas marked with wooden survey poles, which have been carefully positioned to indicate the new road reserve and alignment.

The excavation process is necessary to broaden the roadway and create a safer, more accessible thoroughfare that can accommodate increased traffic and improve overall road safety. Municipal officials have engaged affected residents throughout the planning process, and agreements have been reached to ensure that all affected boundary walls, paving and related structures will be reconstructed once the road expansion work has been completed.

The project reflects the municipality’s dedication not only to infrastructure development but also to empowering local communities through job creation. Mahikeng Local Municipality remains committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure across all wards and ensuring that no community is left behind in the municipality’s drive to improve service delivery and build a better future for all residents.
