As part of International Children's Day during Child Protection Week, we joined learners from Rebone Thuto Day Care in a community awareness march, raising awareness about child protection and reminding our community that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and protected.

By working together as families, caregivers, educators, and communities, we can help build a future where every child is valued, protected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Because protecting children isn't just a campaign.

It's a responsibility we all share.

Let us continue to celebrate our children, protect their rights, and create environments where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

Our second STEM Mentorship Event was bigger, broader, and even more impactful.

It was encouraging to see learners engage so enthusiastically with mentors and explore the diverse opportunities available within STEM. Their curiosity and participation highlighted the value of creating meaningful opportunities for exposure, learning, and career exploration.

What stood out throughout the event was the collective commitment of mentors, universities, and industry professionals who came together to support and inspire the next generation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to UNICEF South Africa and all our partners and mentors whose contributions continue to make these opportunities possible.

Today we proudly celebrated the achievement of the first cohort of our Early Childhood Caregiver Skills Programme.

These participants formed part of the NYS Phase 3 programme under SAVWA, Seriti Institute’s local implementing partner, and were successfully selected to participate in this skills development initiative.

Through dedication, consistency, and hands-on learning, the participants demonstrated exceptional resilience, growth, and commitment throughout the programme.

Today not only marks the successful completion of the programme, but also a significant milestone for a group of our ECD champions who are now better equipped to contribute meaningfully within the ECD sector.

For us, this graduation represents more than the completion of a training programme. It reflects the impact of investing in people, strengthening communities through skills development, and creating pathways for young people to participate meaningfully in shaping better futures.

Through our aRe Bapaleng programme, we have seen how parents, caregivers, teachers and day mothers play a powerful role in giving children a strong start in life.

aRe Bapaleng, which means “Let’s Play” in Sesotho, is built on the belief that the best way to improve a child’s development is to empower the people who care for them daily.

By strengthening parenting and early learning through play, the programme supports families and communities to create nurturing environments where children can learn, grow and thrive.

This International Day of Families, we celebrate the families and caregivers who continue to show up for children every day.
