Promises Made, Promises Kept! 🏛️✨

When severe storms devastated Beestepan Agricultural High School on 24 August, our Grade 12 learners were left without a safe place to prepare for and write their final matric exams.

While the Department of Education was slow to manage the disaster, we stepped up. On 2 September, the DA committed to taking action. Thanks to incredible local Good Samaritans and the power of Public-Private Partnerships, we are proud to share that the school library roof was fully repaired by 12 September — in just 10 days! 🛠️📚

If this is what the DA can accomplish in opposition through community action and partnerships, imagine what we can achieve when we govern Steve Tshwete! 🇿🇦

While we’ve secured this critical space for our matriculants, our work isn't done — we urge the Mpumalanga Department of Education to urgently step up and repair the rest of the school facilities.

🚨 CABLE THEFT IN STEVE TSHWETE — RESIDENTS DESERVE ANSWERS

Large-scale cable theft is taking place in Ward 4 Komati & Blinkpan, and DA Councillor Stefan Smith has repeatedly reported these incidents to the municipality, calling for action.

In June 2026, Councillor Smith submitted a question to Council asking a simple but important question:

How much of the municipality’s electrical budget is being spent on repairs resulting from cable theft and vandalism?

Instead of providing the requested figures, the municipality referred the question to the relevant department. A follow-up letter to the Municipal Manager also went unanswered.

At the next Council sitting, Councillor Smith will resubmit the question.

Residents have a right to know how much of their money is being spent repairing infrastructure damaged by cable theft and vandalism, and the municipality must be held accountable for protecting its infrastructure.

The DA will keep asking the questions. We will keep demanding the answers.

Estimated meter readings can leave residents facing unexpectedly high bills when meters are eventually read correctly.

Steve Tshwete needs a better, more transparent system.

When the DA governs after 4 November, we will modernise municipal administration and make it easier for residents to log queries, dispute accounts and track progress online.
