[FAREWELL] - A befitting send-off for late amaNdebele Nation King Makhosoke II as the country gathered at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga, Thembisile Hani Local Municipality, Mpumalanga.
Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) MEC, Speed Mashilo, Provincial House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders Chairperson, Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena and other dignitaries paid homage to the late King.

Ingwenyama Makhosoke II has been described as a towering giant in society - embracing culture, heritage and development of amaNdebele Nation and the people of the Province. Deputy President, Paul Mashatile delivered an eulogy during the funeral ceremony.

[COMMIT] - Efforts to improve municipalities and deliver quality services remain central to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government.The MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), Mr Speed Mashilo outlined plans for the 2026/27 financial period.

MEC Mashilo made this undertaking when he announced a staggering R2.370 billion budget sought to bring mega developments for this fiscal period at the Provincial Legislature, City of Mbombela. Key strategic focus areas, include, amongst others:

- Support all municipalities and traditional councils;
- Construct five traditional council offices;
- Service 2 250 sites at various projects;
- Deliver 1 828 government subsidised houses;
- Issue 2 500 title deeds to government subsidised houses beneficiaries; and
- Rehabilitate and deliver infrastructure on disaster affected areas.

[ALLOCATE] - An infrastructure focused budget is set to improve Mpumalanga communities. Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) MEC, Mr Speed Mashilo reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to service delivery, transparency, and community empowerment during the 2026/27 Budget Vote presentation
at the Provincial Legislature, City of Mbombela.

To drive impact at grassroots level, over R70 million has been allocated for intergrated human settlements planning and township establishment projects. These projects are expected to yield over 78,000 residential stands, expanding access to secure land tenure for thousands of families. In addition, informal settlement upgrading programmes will benefit more than 58,000 households through improved services and living conditions.

The Department has been allocated a total budget of R2,370 billion depicting an increase of R10,3 million in comparison to the R2,36 billion for 2025/26 financial year.

[PRESENT] - The tabling of the Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs' (CoGHSTA) Budget Vote 2026/27 is currently underway at the Provincial Legislature, City of Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

The presentation will concentrate on functional municipalities, support provided to traditional councils, improved planning, integrated development, access to affordable housing and roll-out of basic services for the current financial year and beyond.

[MOURN] - Tributes continue to pour in for His Majesty King Makhosonke II, King of the amaNdebele Nation, who passed on this Tuesday. Mpumalanga Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs MEC, Mr Speed Mashilo extended his heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, amaNdebele Nation as a whole and the broader traditional leadership.

His Majesty will be remembered by the role he played in strengthening the amaNdebele community, preserving its cultural heritage, promoting social cohesion and fostering unity among his people. He showed a strong commitment to the development and empowerment of traditional communities.

The passing of His Majesty is a profound loss not to the amaNdebele Nation but also to South Africa’s broader heritage sector. He was a respected traditional leader who understood the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage, indigenous knowledge systems and the traditions that define communities.
