Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury officials are participating in a five-day Finance for Non-Financial Managers training programme facilitated by the National School of Government (NSG) in the City of Mbombela.

The training aims to equip officials with an in-depth understanding of the general principles and concepts of financial management, as well as the regulatory framework governing financial management in the public sector.

The programme further provides non-financial managers with practical knowledge and essential financial management skills that can be applied in their day-to-day responsibilities, supporting sound financial decision-making, accountability, and effective management of public resources.

Teams of innovators presented prototypes of their solutions during an open judges’ session at the Mpumalanga Artificial Intelligence Students Hackathon (MAISHA) today.

The fourth MAISHA is hosted by the University of Mpumalanga at the Mbombela campus.

The sessions proved to be a rich minefield of ideas that, once implemented, promise to shift the needle forward in the ever‑changing world of technology in broad areas of interest such as education, agriculture, governance amongst others.

The judging panel, comprising six members, was drawn from academia, the private sector, industries relevant to the solutions, and the provincial government.

The Provincial Treasury is proud to be among the partners of the 2026 MAISHA programme.

This initiative directly aligns with the principal objectives outlined in the recently approved Provincial digital transformation strategy.

4TH ANNUAL MPUMALANGA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE STUDENT HACKATHON (MAISH) 2026

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) and Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), in partnership with the Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury, is hosting the 4th Annual Mpumalanga Artificial Intelligence Student Hackathon (MAISH) from 10 - 12 September 2026 at the UMP Mbombela Campus.

The three-day hackathon, themed “Good To Be Great” brings together student hackers from UMP and TUT to develop innovative AI-driven solutions relevant to Mpumalanga and beyond.
