River Valley Nature Reserve

Our family has been blessed with the stewardship of one of the few remaining privately owned pockets of natural habitat on the Kwa Zulu Natal South Coast, River Valley Nature Reserve. The reserve falls within a horseshoe of a picturesque section of the iVungu River which meanders down through a valley of hills into the Indian Ocean at the well known Uvongo Beach, where

one finds the iVungu falls. It is a small reminder of the once untouched natural coastline with it’s varied ecosystems consisting of grassland, riverine and coastal forest. Abundant birdlife including the Narina Trogon, African Finfoot, Crowned eagle, Knysna Turaco, Olive Woodpecker and over 145 species of birds inhabit the reserve. Antelope such as Nyala, Impala, Bushbuck, and Blue and Grey Duiker can be seen on the reserve and if you are fortunate you might be able to get a sighting of the Cape Clawless Otter that frequent the reserve. It is our pleasure to be able to share this beautiful part of YHWH’s creation for others to enjoy, by being accommodated in our upmarket cottages, a small private campsite, walking trails through the reserve and a picnic area.

Today is a special day. It’s Jenine’s birthday!!! Jenine joined our team over a year ago and has made herself well at home in the shop and at reception. She I a true blessing to us. Happy birthday Jenine.
