Manenberg Community Police Forum

Manenberg Community Police Forum Community participation in Policing. A Community Police Forum is established in terms of section 19(1) of the South African Police Service Act, 1995.

Every Police Station in the Republic of S. Africa is required to establish a CFP. The aims of objectives of the Manenberg Community Police Forum are as follows: 1. To develop a partnership between the community and the SA Police Services. 2. To act as a civilian oversight body. 3. To run community based projects in consultation with sport bodies, faith based organizations and NGO's and NPO's. 4.

To manage a volunteer corps to deal with women and child abuse and trauma. 5. The CPF is responsible to establish and manage Street Committees, Court Committees and Neighbourhood Watches. The area of the Manenberg Policing Precinct is as follows: N2 Highway to the North. Lansdowne Road to the North. Guguletu/Heideveld Railway line in the East and Jakes Gerwel Road in the West. The Policing Precinct serves approx. 120,000 inhabitants which include: Sherwood Park, Manenberg, Primrose Park, Portavue, Surrey Estate, Greenhaven, Vanguard Estate, Heideveld and Welcome Estate. A CPF Executive Committee run for a term of five years. This body is elected by registered organizations in the Policing Precinct who is in existence for longer than one year.
