Serving the community of Manenberg for 46 years as a police reservist with dignity and pride this is warrant officer Edward Le Roux. He has offered his spare time to SAPS voluntary. This man is truly a man of honour. His voluntary police career spans over four decades through the appartheid government to the new democratic government. He has truly stood tall in the adversity of change both in government and the increase in challenges within the community. He remains an active member of the reserve force.
Brigadier Enolium Joseph wishes him well in both health and wealth. He would like all members to look at this fine gentleman as their role model.

Manenberg SAPS senior management awarded their members for dedicated and loyal work, service excellence, going beyond the call of duty for the period 2016 to 2017 financial year.
These awards comes in the wake of Manenberg SAPS achievement within the Nyanga cluster and the Province. The station was rated better than the year before making it stand out among the other policing precincts.
This award means alot for many of the members becuase they have faced tough situations in the communty, from gang violence being shot at to vehicles being damage and windows destroyed when they attended low risk complaints.
Through the year members are appreciated and the dedicated hard work in difficult situation have not gone unnoticed.
SAPS Manenberg represents a small part of a thin Blue line that separates the good from the bad, hope and hopelessness, lawful and lawlessness.
We are at time trampled upon and at other times people try and blur the line. Through decades this line represents hope and it will remain forever long after we have gone. What is important is the legacy every member, that forms part of this blue line, leaves.
Today is a special day and Brigadier Enolium Joseph is proud to be associated with the members of Manenberg SAPS that includes the administration staff, support staff. They are the ones that keep the virtual wheels of SAPS turning in the community.
We have awarded these members and we are entering them in the provincial prestigious awards later in the year, hoping to inspire the members and the junior members who they are role models too.
Any community member that have experienced good and outstanding work from SAPS can contact Manenberg Station Commander 0216999480. We would like to hear your contribution. There are many complaints but there are just as good and excellent services rendered that we do not hear about.

A mob mainly consisting of women attacked the Manenberg SAPS crime prevention unit in the Greatfish road Manenberg while they were busy with an arrest.
This morning 17 May 2017 at 07:40 as members patroled the Manenberg Precinct area of Greatfish road, They saw a suspicious male walking in the road.
SAPS members stopped and searched the male. They found 22 mandrax tablets 5 half mandrax tablets, 8 units of TIK and a parcel of dagga on him. While still busy arresting the 33 year old male a group of people maily women came towards the police vehicle and without any warning started stoning the members demanding the release of the suspect.
SAPS Memebers called for backup as they tried to contain situation before it became volatile.
During this time the suspect also got violent and punched an officer in the face. The police vehicle was also damaged in the process. This action by the community seems to be persisting and it cannot and will not be tollerated.
SAPS members are doing their utmost to combat crime and reducing crimes against women and children and in this incident women attack SAPS members, by stoning while performing their duties.
This shows the moral values of a community is rotten to its core. We need to change this type of behaviour.
There is also a miss perception that dagga has become legal.
The law on dagga has not been changed as yet and this make dagga still illegal.
The recreational use or the possession of dagga is still illegal. The courts has made a ruling on dagga now the law has to change. As long as the law and the schedule of drug dont change, dagga remains illegal.
All state departments party to the case have decided to appeal the recent high court judgement on legalising the use and cultivation of dagga in the home. The appeal will be heard in the constitutional court and the constitutional court will decide on the matter.
In the mean time the legislation remains unchanged. Therefore it is still illegal.
Anyone with information regarding criminal activity can contact Manenberg SAPS 0216999400 or Crime Stop 0860010111.

Today Thursday 11 May 2017 at 14:00 SAPS members were attacked by community during an operation targeting illegal shebeens in Nellie court Heideveld.
Alcohol is the main contributing factor in most if not all crimes against women and children. It has taken communities done a road of moral decay and increased substance abuse to such a level that it has distroyed the moral vibre to its core.
Policing the the illegal shebeens has a priority shows the need to police and regulate the sale of liquor because it has contributed to crimes such as murder, assaults and even r**e.
Community might think that raiding shebeens is trivial and that there are more serious crimes to police but the illegal sale of alcohol is a serious offence, contravening the liquor act and contributes to many other social ills in the community including teenage and unwanted pregnancies.
While SAPS Members confiscated the alcohol and arrested a 53 year old male for contravening the liquor act, community stoned the vehicles damaging a marked SAPS vehicle smashing rear window. This type of action will not be tollerated and is a serious indictment on what we are trying to achieve and that is to reduce crime in the Manenberg Policing Precinct. Making the precinct a safe for everyone who lives in the precinct or pass through it. The Station Commander Brigadier Enolium Joseph is committed to keep members under his command focused so that they can continue to deliver an unbias service ensuring a quality policing service for all. He will continue to encourage community to report and cplay a active role in reducing crime within the Manenberg Policing Precinct.

Manenberg SAPS members came under attack once again during the the execusion of their crime prevention duties.
Yesterday 18 April 2017 at 21:40 Manenberg SAPS Crime prevention unit deployed within the precinct to combat gang violence were attacked.
Members were busy with stop and searches when they searched a 18 year old male on the corners of Manenberg Avenue and Renoster walk. The 18 year old was in possession of two mandrax tablets and two sticks of dagga. He was arrested and as members loaded him in their vehicle community members started pelting their SAPS vehicle with stones. The community demanded that SAPS Members release the suspect.
The members managed to drive away with the suspect in custody.
The situation seems to worsen as members are being attacked by community members that complain that SAPS is not doing their job.
This type of action cannot be tollerated and community member that are jeopardising the safety of SAPS officers and the lives of community at large, should not expect any leniency from SAPS or the court of law. A damaged SAPS vehicle means that the vehicle is out of service and this hampers service delivery.
Colonel Zama ensures that SAPS Manenberg will remain focused in combatting crime within the precinct and will not be deterred by rogue community members.

Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact Manenberg SAPS 0216999400 or crime stop 0860010111.
