NWPTB Contribution to Heritage Month
The North West Parks and Tourism Board hosted guests from Haiti as part of the Province Tourism Destination Marketing and
Heritage being one leg of the tourism offerings in the country.
The Haiti delegation was hosted at Pilanesberg Bakubung Lodge where they were introduced to the local culture and heritage around the lodge and inside the nature reserve. The group went as far as Mphe Batho Museum for a tour on Bakgatlha History, Mogwase Jewelery Factory, Sun City for shopping and a local Chesa Nyama to experience local cuisine.
The highlight of the tour was the game drive inside Pilanesberg were the majority got to see the Elephant and rhino for the first time.
The trip was a detour to the main event held at the Freedom Park Monument to unveil a pluckard in honour of Haitian Heroes on Heritage Day.
The trip was meant to honour the memory of Heroes and heroins who were exiled to South Africa during their country uprising and for their descendants to remember and know what they stood against.
NWPTB was offered an opportunity to present the province tourism offerings at the host embassy as part of trade exchange aimed at
sourcing American born Haitians to include the province in their future travel plans.
It is hoped that the delegation influencers who include Ms Heritage Global, Haiti Celebrity and the ordained Dr of Haiti Culture and Heritage and the rest of the crew born and bred in the US will spread the word about their experience in the Province.
