Dear students of North West University,

SASCO North West extends our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in the recent SCC elections from August 9-13, 2024. Your overwhelming support for SASCO demonstrates your trust in our vision for a more equitable and inclusive university environment.

SASCO NORTH-WEST PROVINCE STATEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 18 July 2024

The South African Students’ Congress of the North West Province (SASCO-NW) joins the masses of our people in all corners of the earth in commemoration of the International Mandela Day by giving 67 Minutes of the day in service of communities. We encourage all our students to join the province by giving “67-Minutues” of their everyday to assist learners and respective community in their applications for tertiary institutions and funding for their studies. This initiative comes as the first democratically elected president Nelson Mandela said “Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation” indicating a firm believer in education.

The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) states its position on the following matters:

START OF THE SECOND SEMESTER

The only vanguard of students’ welcome’s back all the students from across the length and breadth of the country into the Platinum Province. We remind the students that the revolution towards full realization for free quality education is still on session. The organisation will never rest until we have realized the full implementation of free quality education and transformation of the tertiary sector has been fully archived. Students and prospective students are called to consult with the members and leadership of SASCO in different campuses when they are faced with any form of challenges as the Right To Learn Campaign 2024 (RTLC24) still continues. We wish the students across the province a very fruitful last semester of the year.

SASCO NW WELCOMES THE ELECTION OF THE NORTH WEST PROVINCE PREMIER AND THE APPPOINTMENT OF EXCO MEMBERS. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. The South African Student Congress in the North West Province welcomes and applauds the ANC NW PEC and its alliance partners for a commendable and equitable representation of the Leagues and Alliances in various roles in the provincial legislature. Furthermore, the student congress in the people’s province hope that the collective effort of both the organization and government representatives will provide necessary intervention and support to strengthen state capacity in the province to deal with the triple challenges (Poverty, Inequality and Unemployment) that continue to remain critical threats to our general socio-economic prosperity as a nation, particularly as youth and student communities. Moreover, SASCO NW communicates best wishes to the energetic and charismatic Hon. Lazarus Mogotsi, on his new responsibility as the Premier of the North West Province and trust that his traceable record within the revolution will usher in a period of wisdom and inclusivity in the broader scope of governance and its policies. The Student Congress in the People’s Province, further cements its salutation in acknowledging and celebrating the representation of young people in Provincial Legislature, NCOP and National Assembly and trust that their commitment for championing the interests of Youth in their majority will remain a critical pillar and priority in advancing their set revolutionary and governance tasks.
