DAY TWO 11/06/2026 | North West Public Hearing on the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Amendment Bill - Govan Mbeki Hall, JB Marks Local Municipality in the DR Kenneth Kaunda District.

The PIE Amendment Bill aims to strengthen South Africa’s eviction laws by balancing housing rights with property rights, empowering municipalities to act against unlawful land occupations, and protecting vulnerable groups from unlawful evictions.

North West: City of Rusternburg

MMC for Human Settlements in the City of Rusternburg, Cllr Luan Snyder and Judgemore Tshikomba, Legal Services - National Department of Human Settlements, today, led the Prevention of Illegal Eviction and Unlawful Occupation of Land Amendment Bill at the Ben Marais Hall, City of Rusternburg, allowing residents, NGO's in the Human Settlements Sector, Private Sector Stakeholders of Bojanala District Municipality to share their views on the Bill.

Tomorrow the session moves to the Govan Mbeki Hall in Potchefstroom.

As part of the Title Deeds Restoration Programme, the Premier of the North West Province, Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, officially handed over 10 title deeds to beneficiaries in Monakato, Ward 25. These 10 title deeds form part of 100 title deeds facilitated by the department’s agency, the North West Housing Corporation, in its utmost commitment to restoring ownership and bringing dignity to communities across the province.
