After Covid the schools of the Kwena Basin have been combined into one school at the site of Klipspruit Combined School (now called Kwena Combined School). There are approximately 989 pupils from
Grade R to 12 at the school.
The Kwena trust is unfortunately no longer operating. However through the JCE Trust funding is still being administered to keep the Library operating.
A fieldworker is employed (privately, not by the department) to run the Library as well as run an early literacy intervention programme in Gr R so that we have avid readers in the future.
A yearly donation of R40000 is no longer available for the project.
The funds to pay the fieldworker will run out at the end of April.
Dr Jean Place and Dr Grant Coltman are appealing to all past Kwena Students to please assist in spreading the word and where possible in the schools you teach to help fund raise to keep the Kwena Library open.
