The arches, captivating visitors since the early 1970s!

Photo taken by Sydney Press shortly before construction was completed and the outdoor landscaping took root.

Press would send the architect Marco Zanuso regular photographic updates by post to his office in Milan. The distance didn't stop them from creating Coromandel.

In October, Suzanne Press took part in the conference, which took place in Clarens.

Suzanne presented her work in bringing together and leading efforts to try to safeguard Coromandel and increase its future viability as a prosperous economic, environmental, and social enterprise for all the beneficiaries of the CFT.

A key part in this initiative, was Creating Coromandel, a monograph by .press written by and with Salvatori Barba, Anna Severino and Carla Ferreyra, which documents the concept, development and construction of Coromandel House as well as Marco Zanuso's additional work for Sydney Press at Edgardale.

Not only does this book consolidate the research itself, but it also makes it accessible to a wider international audience and inspires a new generation of architects. Bringing new heritage to light.

Students all over the world are inspired by Coromandel House.

At ENSAL (Ecole National Superieure d' Architecture de Lyon ), the Students had to select a notable house to analyse and present to their colleagues and professors, and and chose Coromandel House/ Casa Press.

It is splendid to see how Marco Zanuso's work continues to inspire and teach new generations!

It can't always be good news...

Over the weekend a massive wildfire spread by high winds moved through Coromandel Farm and partially destroyed the already vulnerable structure of the Steffan Ahrends Stables (built 1969). So far the damage seems limited to one wing and mercifully, the fire seems not to have reached Coromandel House, but we have no further information.

Wishing the Coromandel Farm Trust Beneficiary owners and residents safety and strength at this time.

We're in good company!

You can find Creating Coromandel: Marco Zanuso in South Africa at Spazio in Milan, an independent storefront that brings together fragments of academic research and the sensibility of the curatorial practice to allow visitors to critically reflect, speculate and discuss!

The team there has a passion for architecture, urban design, engineering, geography, landscape, social ecology, and generally, for all disciplines that deal with spatial practices. They enjoy exploring historical archives to produce experimental exhibitions and publications that increase public awareness around issues affecting the built environment.

Moving through the labyrinthine corridors of Coromandel House's wings with their multiple rooms in series, we reach the end of each back where we started...in nature.

Through a direct connection to the out doors, each of these rooms invites one to smell the crisp air, enjoy the vivid greens of the trees and grasses after a summer rain, and to stroll out into the sunshine and explore...
