Golden Eye Medical Rescue attended a collision of a vehicle that hit a pedestrian. The scene was assessed by our medics and 1 patient was found to have sustained minor injuries. The patient was treated on scene and transported to a medical facility in Lichtenburg for further treatment.

Golden Eye Medical Rescue attended a collision between 2 vehicles. On arrival the scene was assessed by our medics and 3 patients were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries. The patients was treated on scene before being transported by Golden Eye Medical Rescue and Provincial Emergency Medical Services to a nearby medical facility.

Golden Eye Medical Rescue attended a collision of a vehicle that rolled over. The scene was assessed by our medics and we are thankful to report that there was no injuries on scene. All necessary authorities attended the scene to determine the cause of the accident.

What to do when an emergency vehicle is approaching?

Immediately switch on your vehicles indicator towards the direction you are going to move.

Slowly move over to the emergency lane allowing the emergency vehicle to pass you.

If you are at an intersection and you see or hear an emergency vehicle approaching switch on your hazards to indicate to the vehicles behind you and remain stopped and allow the emergency vehicle to pass.

PLEASE DO NOT SPEED UP WHEN AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE IS APPROACHING OR TRYING TO OVETAKE YOU. YOU MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

PLEASE DO NOT SLAM ON YOUR BRAKES WHEN AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE IS BEHIND YOU. REMEMBER EMERGENCY VEHICLES TRAVEL AT HIGH SPEEDS AND CANNOT STOP IMMEDIATELY.

THE AVERAGE AMBULANCE WEIGHS AROUND 3 TONS AND BRINGING AN AMBULANCE TO A FULL STANDSTIL IS DIFFICULT ON HIGH SPEED.

Golden Eye Medical Rescue attended a collision between a bus and 2 light motor vehicles. The scene was assessed by our medics as well as Government Emergency Services. 1 patient was found to have sustained critical injuries and 8 patients have sustained minor injuries. The patients was treated on scene and then transported by Golden Eye Medical Rescue and Government Emergency Services to medical facilities in Lichtenburg and Mahikeng .

Golden Eye Medical Rescue attended a outreach program whereby all emergency services got together and informed school learners what we do in the emergency services. Golden Eye Medical Rescue explained to the kids how to do CPR and also if you are involved in an accident what will happen if you need to go to hospital.

After our solo presentations all the necessary emergency services demonstrated to the kids how all of us form one team on a accident scene and how all the emergency services combine and do what is required of them.

We from Golden Eye Medical Rescue would like to thank all the necessary role players involved: SAPS, Fire and Rescue, Traffic Department, Department of Immigrations, Arrive Alive, Department of Home Affairs as well as the organizers from Thusanang Trauma Centre and Shell Four Ways.

Together we inspired a few children today which will follow in our footsteps in the near future.

Golden Eye Medical Rescue attended a head on collision between a LMV and a Truck. The scene was assessed by our medics. 1 patient was found to have sustained minor injuries. The patient was treated on scene and then transported by Golden Eye Medical Rescue to a medical facility in Lichtenburg.

WHAT TO DO INCASE OF A PANIC ATTACK

* Stay Calm at all times if you encounter someone with a panic attack.

* Listen if the patient speaks without any judgement remarks.

* Inform the patient that the panic attack will pass.

* Tell the patient to take nice deep breaths in by his/her nose and out by his/her mouth.

* Take the patient outside or into a relaxed environment.

* Help the patient to keep his/her arms above their head while slowly walking around.

* Should the patient become unconcious immediately call Golden Eye Medical Rescue

WHAT TO DO INCASE OF A STROKE

DO THE FOLLOWING:

Do: IMMEDIATELY CALL Golden Eye Medical Rescue

Do: write down the time. This will greatly help the emergency team to act as efficiently as possible. Knowing when the symptoms started can help doctors determine the appropriate treatment. If you are not sure when the symptoms started, knowing when the person was last seen “normal” is helpful as well.

Do: help the person lie down. Keep stroke victims on their side with the head slightly elevated to promote blood flow.

Do: Loosen any restrictive clothing. This helps the stroke victim breathe more easily. Avoid pulling or straining any weakened limbs.

Do: check for breathing if the person is unconscious. Check for pulse and breathing. If there is no pulse, begin CPR immediately.

DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING:

Don't: drive to the hospital. Call 9-1-1 immediately. Paramedics are faster and can recognize when someone is in trouble and needs emergency assistance.

Don’t: give the person aspirin. For many strokes, aspirin is good—but for many other strokes, aspirin will make things much, much worse. Leave it to medical personnel to decide what’s best.

Don’t: give the person anything to eat or drink. Stroke can cause difficulty with muscle control, including the ability to swallow.
