Laudium Disaster Management Facilitate & coordinate multi-disciplinary response efforts, coordinate additional resources for saf

Disaster Risk Management which is constituted by the following : Prevention, Mitigation, Preparedness, Relief, Response, Recovery, Rehabilitation and Development. A volunteer Unit to act as first responders to local incidents.

* Reduce the probability of disasters occurring, and reduce the severity of their consequences if they occur.
* Reduce the vulnerability of communities, including the poor

and disadvantaged.
* Identify risks and hazards
* Identify Emergency shelters, relief centres and NGO's
* Uplift and capacity building of the community through training in Fist Aid, basic fire fighting, contributing towards the overall preparedness in order to deal with incidents / disasters.
* Involvement of community leaders, and roles players in all disaster management actions.
* Formation of effective partnerships , through which the community can initiate projects that will address their needs. We also provide Emergency services for all community events. Laudium Disaster management teams respond to Four-Vehicle collision on M26 Erasmia

A serious motor vehicle accident involving four vehicles occurred on the M26 Erasmia back road just before the R55 turnoff. The vehicles involved were a VW Polo, a Mercedes-Benz, and two bakkies.

Emergency services are on the scene. It has been confirmed that children were in one of the vehicles. The extent of injuries are unknown at this stage. The Injured have been taken to various medical facilities in the area.

LDM Traffic Advisory:
Motorists are urged to avoid the M26 Erasmia road due to the serious MVA. Please keep emergency lanes open to allow emergency vehicles access to the scene. Thank you for your understanding.

Motorists should expect delays, however traffic flow has resumed.

From Thursday 30 April - 17:00 to Sunday 3 May 2026 -17:00

Residents are hereby advised that the Annual Ijtima (Religious Event) will be taking place at the Laudium sport grounds between the 30 April to 1 May.

There Ijtima is likely to attract tens of thousands of people to Laudium that weekend thus increasing traffic volumes in the area.

As part of the Traffic Management Plans as approved by TMPD, the following streets will be affected.

⛔️19th Avenue will be closed to all vehicles between Brown street and Jewel street intersection.

⬅️Brown street will be utilised as a one way in towards the cemetery.

🚫19th Avenue will also be closed between indigo street and Jewel street , access only to vehicles entering the Ijtima site.

The following roads will experience very high traffic volumes throughout the event especially especially on Friday 1st May from 8am until 4pm.

1. Military Road (from R55 until Delhi street)
2. 1st Avenue (KFC entrance)
3. Jewel street (between 1st Avenue and 19th Avenue)
4. Emerald street (between 1st Avenue and 19th Avenue)
5. Erasmia link road (from Helena street / Barbara Coetzee until Cuprene street
6. Muhammed’s Hardware entrance
7. 2nd Avenue
8. Pendant street between 13th and 2nd avenue
9. 5th Avenue between Cuprene and Pendant street
10. Cuprene between 5th and 19th Avenue

Some of the above roads maybe periodically converted to one way lanes to alleviate traffic congestion.

1. Other roads in and around the Ijtima site / suburb will be closed off periodically to assist with traffic congestion.

We request motorists plan accordingly and exercise patience during this period.

TMPD, SAPS and other local authorities will be on site to assist during this period.

This traffic management plans will be in effect for the duration of the event.
