🧡💜Provincial Closing of the 16 Days of Activism – A Commitment That Continues🧡💜
On Friday, 12 December 2025, the Provincial Closing of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children was held at Rusthof Primary School in Strand. The event brought together SAPS, CPF Leaders , community leaders, NGOs, survivors, and partners from across the province in a powerful programme of reflection, remembrance, and renewed commitment.
The Lansdowne community was proudly represented, by the Lansdowne CPF Chairperson and Sgt Mnyaka from Lansdowne SAPS who were invited to attend this important provincial event, further strengthening the partnership between law enforcement and the community in the fight against gender-based violence.
Through prayer, shared experiences, the lighting of memorial candles, and inspirational messages, we were reminded of the harsh realities faced by victims of gender-based violence, while also celebrating the courage of survivors and the collective strength of our communities when we stand united.
While this event marked the official provincial closing, it is important for our community to understand this clearly:
The fight against gender-based violence does NOT end with the 16 Days.
The 16 Days of Activism is not a once-off campaign, but a call to action that must live on every single day of the year.
As communities, families, and leaders, we all have a responsibility to remain vigilant, to speak out, to support victims, and to hold perpetrators accountable. Awareness must turn into action, and action into lasting change.
Together, we recommit ourselves to building safer homes, safer streets, and a society where women, children and men can live free from fear and violence not just for 16 days, but 365 days a year.
The campaign may close, but the commitment continues.
🧡💜TOGETHER WE CAN BE STRONGER!!!!🧡💜
