The School Oversight Programme was honoured by the presence of the ANCYL KwaZulu-Natal Deputy Chairperson, Cde Phindile Mdanda. Her participation in this oversight initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of the ANCYL to championing the interests and developmental aspirations of young people. This engagement is particularly significant as it coincides with the period in which the ANCYL Secretary-General, Cde Tsakani Shiviti, has declared the pen to be the new AK-47, reaffirming the League's strategic emphasis on education as a critical instrument for youth empowerment and liberation.

The ANCYL Branch Executive Committee (BEC) participated in the school oversight programme hosted by the Deputy Minister, Honourable Sihle Zikalala, together with Ward Councillor Sphesihle Ntuli. Also present at the programme was the ANC Regional Coordinator for the General Gizenga Mpanza Region, Comrade Nkosenhle Mngadi.
It is important to note that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate Tshelenkosi Secondary School on its outstanding academic performance, having achieved a 96.7% pass rate in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results within the district, as well as producing a learner who ranked among the top ten nationally.

The ANCYL Regional Chairperson, Comrade Mzoneli, addressed the Branch Executive Committee at the gravesite of former ANC Youth League National Working Committee member, Comrade Vusi Mhlongo.
Speaking at this sacred site of struggle and sacrifice, he invoked the revolutionary legacy of fallen cadres and reaffirmed the Youth League’s unwavering commitment to radical economic transformation and militant activism.
He further emphasized the strategic importance of the 2026 local government elections, calling on young people to contest elections decisively through the African National Congress as the mother body of the liberation movement.
He stressed that the renewal of the ANC must be led by disciplined, politically conscious youth who are rooted in the masses and committed to restoring the trust, confidence, and hope of our people in the movement that delivered freedom.
He declared that the ANCYL will not retreat in the fight against corruption, inequality, and all counter-revolutionary forces that seek to weaken the ANC and betray the aspirations of the working class and the poor.

Today, in convening the first meeting of our newly elected Branch Executive Committee, we reaffirm with unwavering conviction that this branch stands at the forefront of the Renewal Agenda of the African National Congress. We declare without hesitation that renewal is not an abstract slogan it is a decisive political undertaking, a battle for the soul, integrity, and future of our movement.
Our branch recommits itself to the hard, uncompromising work of rebuilding the ANC from the ground up: restoring ethical leadership, deepening ideological clarity, strengthening organizational discipline, and returning power to our communities through activism rooted in service, honesty, and revolutionary commitment. Renewal requires courage, and today we assert our readiness to confront all forms of factionalism, gatekeeping, and conduct that weakens our movement. In this moment, we choose principled unity over convenience, and militant organizational renewal over complacency.
In this spirit, we extend our full and unapologetic support to the African National Congress Youth League NEC as it prepares for its 27th upcoming National Conference. The ANCYL remains the vanguard of youthful energy, revolutionary imagination, and militant renewal within our movement. We believe that a revitalised, independent, and ideologically grounded Youth League is essential for the long-term survival and political relevance of the ANC. We therefore call for maximum discipline, political maturity, and policy driven engagement as the Youth League moves toward this historic gathering.
Our branch stands ready to work side by side with the Shakaville ANC BTT in defending the principles of the Freedom Charter, advancing radical socio-economic transformation, and ensuring that the voices of young people continue to shape the strategic direction of the movement.
Let it be clear: renewal is our mission. Unity is our weapon. And the future belongs to those willing to fight for it.
