📌Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality Sports Team brings trophies and medals home at SAMWA Provincial games

Today on the 31 July 2026 at Town Hall, the Municipal Sporting Exco and players presented their wins to the Municipal leadership. Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality Sports team participated in the Provincial SAMWA (Municipal Wellness Games) hosted by Tsantsabane Local Municipality on 24-25 July 2026.

The results are as follows:

Soccer : Position 1
Volleyball Male: Position 1
Volleyball Female: Position 1
Netball : Position 1
Tug of War: Position 1
Darts: Position 2

The Municipal Manager Mr Martin Tsatsimpe congratulated the sporting teams on their good work and raising the flag of Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality. Furthermore, expressing the importance of municipal employees keeping healthy and taking care of their lifestyles. A healthy employee is a productive public servant.

On the 30 July 2026 at Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality, Speaker Keamogetse Madikiza chairs the Council Sitting. Attended by Mayor Neo George Masegela, Councillors, Municipal manager Mr Martin Tsatsimpe , Directors and officials serving in the Coucil.

Items on the agenda includes presentation on the proposed Mixed Development at Oasis Casion in which the Adistra Property Development Group aims to bring forth businesses such as Hotel, Petrol Station, Private Hospital, Private School, Shopping Centre and Residential units etc. NTCSA as part of Eskom made a presentation on the proposed construction of electricity Transmitter Line from Kathu via Kuruman to Vryburg.

The reports from Corporate Standing Committee, Infrastructure Services Standing Committee, Community Service Standing Committee and Finance Standing Committee were also tabled.

Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality is committed to improving service delivery and providing developments that positively impact the lives of its residents.

📌GA-SEGONYANA REVIEWS KEY MUNICIPAL POLICIES

Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality is today, 28 July 2026, reviewing key policies that guide how the municipality operates and how residents and stakeholders interact with municipal services, processes and support.

The Policy Review Workshop covers policies dealing with tariffs, property rates, credit control and debt collection, indigent support and ward committees, among others.

These affect residents, property owners, businesses and community structures — from municipal accounts and rates to support for qualifying households and community participation.

The review also covers internal policies dealing with records management, ICT assets and system security, acceptable use, data backup and disaster recovery.

The workshop is chaired by Acting Director: Corporate Services, Mrs Tsalano Teise, and facilitated by Labour Officer Ms Neo Segatle.

Speaker of Council, Cllr Keamogetse Madikiza, councillors, management and municipal officials are participating in the review.

The process provides an opportunity to assess whether existing policies remain relevant and practical within the municipality’s current operating environment. Policies requiring further consideration or approval will proceed through the applicable municipal processes.

📌GA-SEGONYANA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE CONVENES

Today, 24 July 2026, the Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality Executive Committee (EXCO), chaired by Mayor Cllr Neo George Masegela, is sitting at the Municipal Council Chamber to consider key matters relating to service delivery, infrastructure development, governance and municipal operations. Municipal Manager Mr Martin Tsatsimpe leads the administration’s reporting to EXCO on matters before the Committee.

Among the matters under consideration are housing and human settlements, the Kuruman Bus and Taxi Rank redevelopment, the N14/R31 Kuruman Bypass, the proposed 5,500-erf mixed-use township development, roads and stormwater, electricity, water and wastewater infrastructure, as well as MIG and WSIG programmes.

EXCO is also considering reports relating to municipal finances, performance management, community services, ward administration, disaster management and other operational matters affecting the municipality.

The meeting is attended by EXCO members, members of management and municipal officials.

The sitting forms part of the municipality’s governance processes through which service delivery performance, administrative implementation and key development matters are considered, with recommendations proceeding to Council where required.

📌Partnership for NTCSA Transmission infrastructure project- Powerline Construction

On the 23 July 2026 at Ga-Segonyana Boardroom. Eskom NTCSA ( National Transmission Company South Africa) conveyed a stakeholder engagement meeting with Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality.

The meeting is to establish partnership with the municipality on the upcoming powerline construction project and to further deliberate on the project outline by NTCSA which is to build a transmission line from Gamagara Local Municipality via Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality and Joe Morolong Local Municipality jurisdiction to Naledi Local Municipality (Kathu to Vryburg). Wards which will be affected by the projects in Ga-Segonyana are Ward 07 and Ward 08 as according to the structural mapping.

The project will follow an integrated approach that encourages transparency, increase NTCSA’s Visibility within the Ga-Segonyana Jurisdiction, minimise challenges and build pro-active communication with municipalities and communities. NTCSA has 10 year Transmission Development Plan (TDP). They are expected to build 1000KM of transmission line within this financial year throughout South Africa.

Processes that are yet to be completed includes public participation meetings in which the communities will be engaged on in-depth project information and SMMEs & temporary labour employment opportunities for the duration of the project. The NTCSA has previously engaged the Tribal Authorities within Ga-Segonyana. This project is aimed at promoting sustainability in the electricity supply industry.

Attending this meeting includes Speaker Keamogetse Madikiza, Ward 11 Councillor Maria Taeng, PR Councillor André Viviers , Technical Department led by Director Bonolo Kgosieng and the NTCSA delegation.
