YOUTH MONTH BUILD-UP PROGRAMME: LANGEBERG WAR OF RESISTANCE HERITAGE HIKE
The Youth Month Build-Up Programme commenced with a historical background presentation on the Langeberg War of Resistance, facilitated by Rre Sephai Mngqolo. The session provided participants with valuable insight into the history, significance, and legacy of the resistance led by the brave leaders of the Langeberg.
Following the presentation, participants embarked on a heritage hike to the historic farms of Kgosi Toto and Kgosi Luca Jantjie, where key events of the Langeberg War of Resistance took place. The visit offered an opportunity for young people to connect with their history and gain a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices made by their forebears in the struggle against colonial oppression.
The programme concluded with a visit to the Langeberg Monument, situated at the Information Tourism Centre in Kuruman, next to Kurara FM. The monument showcases the rich history and contribution of the three revered chiefs: Kgosi Galeshewe, Kgosi Toto, and Kgosi Jantjie, whose leadership and bravery remain an enduring source of inspiration.
As part of the ongoing heritage awareness campaign, Rre Sephai Mngqolo also participated in a radio interview on Kurara FM, where he further shared the history and significance of the Langeberg War of Resistance with the broader community.
The programme successfully promoted historical awareness, cultural heritage preservation, and youth participation in commemorating the legacy of the heroes who fought for freedom, dignity, and justice.
