HPV DNA TRAINING 🧬

Today, nurses from various clinics in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District began a vital two-day training program on HPV DNA testing to improve early detection of HPV as well as local healthcare delivery.

🤔What is HPV DNA Training?

It teaches nurses how to collect samples for tests that find high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV). It focuses on a modern screening method that detects the virus before cell changes turn into cancer. It guides healthcare workers on how to screen patients and handle lab samples correctly.

How It Helps Our Communities?🧐

• It catches cervical cancer risks much earlier than older screening methods.
• It helps nurses prevent severe illness through faster and more accurate results.
• It protects women's health and saves lives across JTG district clinics.

By equipping our frontline healthcare workers with these advanced skills, we are building a healthier, safer, and more resilient future for everyone in our district.

Together, we can eliminate cervical cancer through early detection and proactive care.🤝

📢 Men’s Dialogue: Raising Healthy Children

In celebration of Breastfeeding Week 2026, the JTG District Department of Health brought men together today at the district office for our Men’s Dialogue under the theme: Raising Healthy Children.

This dialogue was dedicated and attended by men in various positions within the JTG District Department of Health, because healthy children need supported mothers and involved fathers.

We talked about real issues affecting our families:
- Stunting and how good nutrition in pregnancy and early childhood makes all the difference
- Exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding to give babies the best start
- Supporting partners through postnatal depression with love, care and understanding
- Immunisations, Road-to-Health Booklets and birth registrations with help from representatives from the Department of Home Affairs.

When fathers are informed and involved, children and families thrive. Let’s continue supporting mothers and raising healthy children together
