MNFPM HOSTS FARMERS' VISIT TO PROMOTE FARMING AND AGRICULTURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The City of Matlosana National Fresh Produce Market (MNFPM), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), hosted a farmers’ visit on Tuesday , 15 September 2026, aimed at promoting farming, agricultural entrepreneurship and market access.
During the visit, farmers gained valuable insights into the importance of selling their produce through a formal market, understanding market requirements and conducting market surveys to identify opportunities and make informed business decisions.
A key message shared during the engagement was the importance of recognising and making meaningful use of the agricultural resources available to farmers and the community at large. The SHEP Approach Training Programme highlights the value of land and soil in food production, encouraging farmers to appreciate these resources and use them productively.
The discussions further emphasised that farming is not only about producing food, but also about building sustainable businesses, creating livelihoods and contributing to the local economy.
Through its collaboration with DARD, MNFPM continues to support knowledge sharing, strengthen relationships with farmers and promote agricultural development within the community.
