MEC KOLOI WELCOMES 18 NEW PROVINCIAL INSPECTORS TO STRENGTHEN ROAD SAFETY IN THE NORTHERN CAPE
The MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, LA Koloi, and Head of Department Mr Rodney Pieterse has welcomed the appointment of 18 new Provincial Inspectors who will join the Department’s law enforcement component to strengthen road traffic law enforcement across the Northern Cape.
The newly appointed Provincial Inspectors will play a critical role in enhancing road safety, promoting compliance with traffic legislation, and supporting efforts to reduce road crashes and fatalities throughout the province.
MEC Koloi congratulated the inspectors on their appointment and encouraged them to serve with integrity, professionalism, and dedication.
“The appointment of these 18 Provincial Inspectors demonstrates our commitment to making our roads safer for all road users. Their presence will strengthen law enforcement visibility, improve compliance with road traffic regulations, and contribute towards saving lives on our roads,” said MEC Koloi.
The Northern Cape continues to experience high traffic volumes on its national and provincial routes, making effective law enforcement a critical component of the province’s road safety strategy. The additional personnel will assist in conducting vehicle inspections, enforcing traffic laws, combating reckless and negligent driving, and ensuring safer travel conditions for residents and visitors alike.
MEC Koloi further emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and called on all motorists, pedestrians, and passengers to obey traffic laws and contribute to creating a culture of responsible road use.
During his address HOD Pieterse said the Department remains committed to strengthening law enforcement capacity and implementing targeted interventions aimed at reducing road crashes and protecting lives across the Northern Cape.
