At Child Welfare Kenton/Bushmans, we work every day to provide care, protection and hope to vulnerable children and families in our community. From social work services and foster care support to aftercare programmes and our soup kitchens, every contribution makes a real difference.

🌅❄️ Join us for a very special Winter Solstice Sunrise Swim in support of Child Welfare Kenton & Bushmansriver! 💜

On the shortest day of the year, let's come together as a community to welcome the sunrise, share a warm cup of coffee, and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in our area. ☕❤️

A huge thank you to Dilly Deli, who will be donating R5.00 from every cup of coffee sold on the morning to Child Welfare. Every sip will help support the important work they do in our community. 🙌

❤️ Community Supporting Community ❤️

At Child Welfare Kenton & Bushmans, we are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from organisations throughout our community.

This week, Kenton Cares and Posh Shop were once again out in Horseplains distributing warm soup and bread to families on a cold winter evening. 🥣❄️

Many people may not realise that through the generosity of donors, shoppers and supporters, Posh Shop is able to assist a number of local charities and community initiatives, including Child Welfare Kenton & Bushmans.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers, donors and supporters who make this important work possible. Every item donated, every purchase made and every bid placed in their auctions helps support organisations working to make a difference in our community.

Please consider supporting Posh Shop and the wonderful work they do. By supporting them, you are helping many local causes, including Child Welfare. 💙

Join talented artist and goldsmith Duval on Sunday, 7 June 2026 at the beautiful Silverleaf Centre — also the home of her new studio — for an Intuitive Collage with Cacao Ceremony workshop as part of the Kenton Taste of Wellness Festival 🌿✨

This gentle and integrative creative experience invites participants to move beyond the thinking mind, create intuitively, and trust authentic self-expression through collage, meditation and ceremonial cacao 🎨☕️

A beautiful opportunity to explore, play, let go of fear and self-judgement, and experience art as healing and transformation 💫

🎶 A little music, a lot of joy 🎶

Our children have been absolutely loving their music lessons on the brand new recorders recently purchased for them 🪈✨ The smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm have been incredibly special to witness, and we are so grateful to everyone who helps make opportunities like this possible ❤️

We were also blessed with the donation of a beautiful organ from Richard and Shirley Tarboton 🎹🌿 Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity — what a wonderful gift for our children and community.

We are now looking for someone who can play the organ and would be willing to teach another person to play as well 🙏🏻
Ideally just once a week for about an hour.

If you are able to assist, or know someone who may be interested, please reach out to us 🌸

As always, we are also in need of volunteers and donations to continue supporting the children and families in our community. Every helping hand makes a difference 🤍

❄️💙 Winter is here… and for some little ones, it’s a very cold season 💙❄️

As the temperatures drop in Kenton & Bushmans, we’re reminded that not every child goes to bed warm at night.

At Child Welfare Kenton/Boesmans, we are seeing an increased need for winter essentials — and we need your help to wrap our children in warmth this season.

🧤 We are collecting:
• Blankets (new or gently loved)
• Warm clothing (especially for children)
• Beanies, scarves & gloves
• Shoes
• Non-perishable food items

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference. A single blanket can mean a better night’s sleep. A warm jersey can mean a child can focus at school instead of the cold.

If you’ve ever cleaned out a cupboard and thought, “I might need this one day…” — this is that day 🤍

✨ Project Spotlight: Uviwe Activity Centre ✨

Did you know that one of the projects run by Child Welfare Kenton & Bushmans is the Uviwe Activity Centre in Ekuphumleni?

This aftercare centre provides a safe and supportive space where children can do homework, learn and play after school. For many families in our community, it is an essential place where children receive guidance, structure and encouragement while their caregivers are working.

Every day the centre supports dozens of children, helping them with schoolwork, life skills and positive activities that keep them engaged and motivated. 💛

Projects like this are only possible thanks to the support of our community. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word — every bit of support helps us continue caring for the children who need it most.
