Housing Development Agency The HDA is a national public development agency that makes well-located land and buildings available.

The Housing Development Agency (HDA) is a national public development agency that makes well-located land and buildings available for the development of housing and human settlements. In doing so, we support the creation of sustainable communities. Established in 2009, the HDA plays a central role in ensuring an integrated approach to the development of human settlements. While our efforts are pri

marily focused on land assembly and release and the provision of various support services, we have increased our involvement across every step of the human settlement value chain to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of sustainable and integrated developments.

HAPPENED TODAY: HDA JOINS MINISTER AT TITLE DEEDS FRIDAYS IN TEKWANE, NELSPRIUT, MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

The HDA joined the Minister of Human Settlements, Hon. Thembi Simelane, at the Title Deeds Fridays Campaign in Tekwane.

Together with the Executive Mayor of the City of Mbombela, Cllr Sibongile Makushe-Mazibuko, the Minister led a door-to-door handover of title deeds, restoring dignity and strengthening security of tenure for residents.

19 title deeds were handed over symbolically by Minister and over 600 title deeds will be handed over to beneficiaries as the event progresses – marking a major step towards secure land ownership and economic empowerment.

The campaign forms part of a nationwide effort to fast-track title deed delivery and address the backlog across South Africa and was relaunched early in 2025.

Minister Simelane encouraged beneficiaries to safeguard their title deeds, highlighting their importance as a powerful tool for ownership and opportunity.

The event also featured a vibrant service fair, where government departments and entities, including HDA, showcased services supporting sustainable human settlements.

Today marks the historic 50th anniversary of the 1976 Soweto Uprising. We honor the bravery and resilience of the youth generation that fought for freedom, equal opportunity, and an inclusive South Africa.

At the HDA, we are deeply committed to continuing this legacy. We don’t just acquire land; we develop sustainable, integrated human settlements that bridge the gap, connecting our young people to vibrant economic opportunities and a brighter future.

The HDA is a national public development agency that makes well-located land and buildings available.

The HDA recently concluded a comprehensive Media Training Programme aimed at strengthening the communication capabilities of its Executive Team.

In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, effective leadership requires more than strategic decision-making it demands the ability to communicate with confidence, clarity and credibility. Through insightful sessions, practical simulations and engaging discussions, our executives were equipped with the skills and tools needed to engage effectively with the media, stakeholders and the communities we serve.

At the heart of this initiative is our commitment to strengthening how we communicate with communities, stakeholders and partners. As the HDA continues to deliver on its mandate of facilitating sustainable human settlements, clear, transparent and impactful communication remains essential in building trust, deepening engagement and ensuring that our work is understood and felt where it matters most.

Stronger communication enables stronger partnerships, more meaningful engagement and greater impact in improving lives.
