The Housing Development Agency (HDA) is a national public development agency that makes well-located land and buildings available for the development of housing and human settlements. In doing so, we support the creation of sustainable communities. Established in 2009, the HDA plays a central role in ensuring an integrated approach to the development of human settlements. While our efforts are pri

marily focused on land assembly and release and the provision of various support services, we have increased our involvement across every step of the human settlement value chain to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of sustainable and integrated developments.

WELLNESS CONVERSATION

YOU CANNOT BUILD A NATION WITHOUT BUILDING THE WOMAN.

The Women Who Build the Nation dialogue turned its attention to wellbeing in a powerful Wellness Conversation, “Building the Nation: The Power of Women.”

The discussion explored the woman behind the leader, and why wellbeing matters in high-performance careers.

Sharing valuable insights were Mbali Mzinyane, Wellness in the Workplace and Wellness Advocate; Dr Samke Ngcobo, Doctor, Author, Keynote Speaker, Mental Health Advocate and Founder & CEO of Vocal Mentality; and Nicolette Mashile, Financial Educator, Author and Content Strategist.

The conversation touched on mental resilience, the changing realities women face throughout their lives, and the importance of creating healthier workplaces and stronger organisations.

Because women’s wellbeing is not separate from leadership, it is part of it.

Doors Opened. Legacies Created. Impact That Endures.

At Women Who Build the Nation, Nolwandle Mboweni reminded us that leadership is not simply about reaching the top - it is about opening doors for others and creating a legacy that outlives us.

“I’m a product of men who opened doors for me, starting with my father, who was a businessman.”

Her message was a powerful call to action:

“Nothing is impossible. We all have the gift of time. We must be stewards of this gift and create legacies.”

And true leadership? It is not defined by money or titles, but by the impact we make and what we leave behind.

“Let’s nurture both girls and boys and build our nation.”

The question is not only what will we achieve? - but who will be better because we were here?

Thriving Beyond the Barriers - Leading with Confidence

What does it take to thrive in a male-dominated industry?

For Tamlyn Bouwer, Acting CEO of the NHBRC, it starts with knowing your voice, listening to others, owning your decisions and leading with confidence.

Her message to women is powerful: don’t be distracted by the haters. Command respect. Listen. Stay grounded. And always have respect for yourself and others.

Leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the courage to make the decision when the moment calls for it.

A powerful perspective on women, leadership and the courage to build a legacy.
