A short history
Known as ASIB , the company was started in the 1970’s by a group of short-term insurance companies to set a standard for fixed fire protection applicable to buildings.
Based on the standards followed insurance companies could then measure the risk of insuring those premises and manage their exposure accordingly.
Over time the organisation evolved and was eventually privatised in 1995 John Goring. On John Goring’s retirement in 2017, Natasha Goring took over as Managing Director
Continuing the legacy formed over nearly 50 years, ASIB continues to play a crucial role in the fire industry as regulator of information and best practice, protecting the end user from poor installation and advice.
