*BREAKING: SA Mechanic Taken Hostage in Mozambique Attack*

A South African mechanic is among 11 people feared taken hostage after rebels attacked a hunting lodge in Marangira, northern Mozambique late last week.

According to TimesLIVE and conservation groups on the ground, armed men believed to be linked to the ISIS affiliate from Cabo Delgado raided the lodge and the town. They burnt facilities, looted supplies, and cut the mobile network before the attack.

The lodge owners say they had invested over R56 million in conservation and community projects in Niassa over 10 years.

Three American hunters who were out in the bush at the time were not harmed and were airlifted to safety.

Authorities in Mozambique say they are still searching for the missing people. DIRCO has not yet released the name of the South African

- Fast deployment, border control, crowd control with SAPS

- *Mechanised Infantry:*
- Heavy combat infantry - fight from Ratel IFVs
- Main battle force for war, combined arms operations with tanks

- *Airborne Infantry / Paratroopers:*
- 44 Parachute Regiment
- Air assault, rapid deployment behind enemy lines, airfield seizure

- *Seaborne / Air Assault Infantry:*
- Specialized infantry deployed by helicopter (Oryx) and with Navy

*2. SA ARMY - OTHER COMBAT FORMATIONS*

- *Armour Formation:* Tanks (Olifant Mk2) and Rooikat armoured cars - destroy enemy armour, reconnaissance
- *Artillery Formation:* G5 & G6 howitzers, Bateleur rockets - long range fire support for infantry
- *Air Defence Artillery:* Protect ground forces from enemy aircraft & drones
- *Engineer Formation:* Build bridges, clear mines, build field bases, water purification
- *Intelligence Formation:* Battlefield info, surveillance, reconnaissance

*3. SPECIAL FORCES*
- Not part of Army, falls under Joint Ops
- Special operations, hostage rescue, deep reconnaissance

*4. SOUTH AFRICAN AIR FORCE (SAAF)*
- Airspace control, air defence, air transport of troops
- Close air support for Army, maritime patrol, rescue

*5. SOUTH AFRICAN NAVY*
- Maritime security, protect 3,000km coastline
