Government' is about ruling: national government rules the country through policy making and administration, The Gauteng Provincial Governement rules the Gauteng province and has has 11 departments: the Office of the Premier, Agriculture and Rural Development, Community Safety, Economic Development, Education, Finance, Health and Social Development, Infrastructure De

velopment, Local Government and Housing, Roads and Public Transport, and Sports, Arts, Culture and Education. Gauteng like all the other province’s in South Africa has a group representatives who fill certain portfolios and are concerned with everything that happens on a provincial scale. The Premier is the executive authority of the province, an authority that is sometimes exercised together with members of the executive council MECs. The Premier has the power to appoint members of the executive council and assign their functions. The Premier, working with the executive council, exercises executive power by:
• implementing provincial legislation in the province
• implementing national legislation
• administering national legislation in the province, if assigned by parliament
• developing and implementing provincial policy
• coordinating the functions of the provincial administration and its departments
• performing any other function assigned to the provincial executive in terms of the constitution or law

The Premier reassured residents that the facility will be completed and opened by March 2027, while those responsible for the delays will be held accountable.

[WATCH]: Premier Lesufi together with MECs and Merafong City Local Municipality Mayor are currently meeting with residents of Khutsong in West Rand on incomplete infrastructure and the interventions by the provincial government. In the engagement, residents also raised concerns on various service delivery issues to the Premier including on crime, lack of recreational facilities and sinkholes among others. Premier committed to return to address the community’s cries.

[HAPPENING NOW]: Premier Panyaza Lesufi is this morning engaging residents and stakeholders in Khutsong on key service delivery and infrastructure challenges affecting the community.

The engagement follows Premier’s visit last week along with Members of the Executive Council (MECs) to the Extension 5 Clinic, where community members raised concerns regarding the completion of the clinic.
