The Gauteng Department of Social Development through the Expanded Public Works Program (EPWP )is training youth who are beneficiaries of Non-Profit Organisations’s services in Tshwane Regional Office.

The youth is being equipped with security training to develop practical skills, increase their opportunities for employment and help them work towards greater independence in the future.

Through skills development and targeted support, the Department continues to empower young people to build brighter and more sustainable futures.

The journey towards building skills and creating employment opportunities continues today in the Sedibeng Region, as beneficiaries of the Gauteng Department of Social Development’s Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) take part in the ongoing Security Skills Training Programme.

Implemented in collaboration with Lesego Tech, the three-week programme is equipping historically disadvantaged youth and unemployed community members with accredited security skills and practical knowledge that can open doors to future employment opportunities.

As training continues, participants are gaining valuable skills while working towards the opportunity for the 20 best-performing trainees to be absorbed into learnerships at various Lesego Tech sites.

Through initiatives such as this, the Department continues to invest in people, strengthen skills development and create pathways towards employment and economic participation.

hosted a handover ceremony at the POWA
Shelter for abused women and children, providing fire detectors and portable solar lights as part of the commemoration of Women’s Month.

The initiative aims to strengthen safety, security and preparedness at the shelter, ensuring a safer environment for women and children who rely on its services.

As part of the programme, shelter staff members received firefighting and first aid training and also awarded certificates in recognition of their commitment to building a safer and more prepared facility.
