Over the past year, Impilo handed over 251 New Mom Support Packs.

Every one went to a mother in a moment she didn't plan for and couldn't necessarily prepare for – nappies, a blanket, baby clothing, and a few things just for her, because she matters too.

251 separate mornings where someone walked in overwhelmed and walked out with what she needed for the days ahead.

We recently wrapped up our Annual General Meeting, and we want to share what the past financial year (April 2025 – March 2026) added up to:

💚 32 children found permanent families – 20 through national adoption, 11 through intercountry adoption, and 1 through family adoption

💚 251 New Mom Support Packs handed to mothers who needed them most

💚 128 Abandoned Baby Rescue Kits distributed to hospitals, clinics, and community partners

💚 12 search-for-origin cases opened, reuniting 3 children with their biological families

💚 900+ learners reached through our Teen Pregnancy Awareness programme

💚 200+ learners engaged through our Bullying Prevention programme

💚 21 children welcomed into Impilo's care, each one now on a path to safety

None of this happens without the people behind it. Thank you to every social worker, staff member, volunteer, donor, and supporter who gave in whatever way you could this past year.

We opened this month with a femicide statistic. We are closing it with what sits behind every number we shared: a mother, a daughter, a sister – a woman doing her best in a country that does not always do its best by her.

Women's Month ends today, but the work of protecting women and children does not.

Thank you to everyone who shared, gave, and paid attention this August. If you are able to keep standing with the women who do this work, we will keep putting your support where it counts.

When a baby is abandoned, what happens in those first minutes matters a lot.

Impilo's Abandoned Baby Rescue Kits make sure the person who responds first is not empty-handed. A warm blanket, nappies, a bottle, and the paperwork that protects the child's future – everything needed to care for that baby until our team takes over.

Every kit exists because someone donated it. If you have been looking for a practical way to give this month, fund one. It will be there in the moment it counts most.

Our hearts go out to every person affected by the heartbreaking incident involving learners at St Stithians College.

At Impilo, we want to remind students, teachers, staff and parents that support is available. Whether you have been directly affected by this incident or are dealing with another form of gender-based violence, you do not have to work through it alone.

We are here to help people process and work through trauma, while also helping them recognise the signs of gender-based violence and understand what they can do when they find themselves in a difficult or unsafe situation, or when someone they know may need help.

Knowing the signs, knowing what to do and knowing where to turn can make a difference.
