Gauteng residents are encouraged to register to vote or update their registration details during the voter registration weekend on 20–21 June 2026 ahead of the local government elections.

Voting stations will be open from 08h00 to 17h00 on Saturday, 20 June, and Sunday, 21 June 2026, to assist with registrations and updates.

Residents can also register or update their details anytime via the IEC online registration portal, available 24/7: registertovote.elections.org.za.

Youth Month 2026 | Cultural & Creative Industries Youth Career Expo

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, in partnership with stakeholders, hosted the Cultural & Creative Industries Youth Career Expo at The South African State Theatre.

The Expo empowered Grade 11 learners and young people with information on career pathways, entrepreneurship opportunities, and technical skills within the Cultural and Creative Industries, while commemorating Youth Month under the theme "RESET@50 – The Future Calls."

Through engaging exhibitions, motivational talks, career guidance sessions, and industry networking opportunities, young people were inspired to explore careers in the arts, culture, heritage, media, and creative economy sectors.

The Gauteng Provincial Archives, in partnership with Rand West City Local Municipality, UNISA and SALGA, successfully hosted the Annual National Archives Week celebration at Greenhills Stadium, Randfontein.

Held under the theme , the event aimed to raise public awareness about the vital role archives play in preserving the nation’s documentary heritage, promoting government accountability, protecting human rights, and ensuring transparency.
