As part of its Voter Education and Registration Campaign, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature hosted a Football Weekend aimed at promoting active, healthy, and responsible citizenship among young people.

The initiative seeks to encourage voter education, democratic participation, and civic engagement through sport and community involvement.

Earlier today, the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Hon. Morakane Mosupyoe, and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Hon. Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, hosted a media briefing to provide an update on preparations for the upcoming 19th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth, Africa Region (CSPOC).

The Portfolio Committee on Community Safety took the fight against gun violence directly to the streets of Johannesburg with the launch of the GunFree Gauteng Campaign at Kwa Mai Mai, in partnership with Gun Free South Africa.

The GunFree Gauteng Campaign aims to raise public awareness about the devastating impact of gun violence and to mobilise communities, civil society, law enforcement agencies and all stakeholders to work together in preventing the proliferation of illegal fi****ms and creating safer communities across the province.
