FROM THE DESK OF CLLR DANIEL SCHAY

Good morning fellow residents

*Council Feedback*
The single biggest item that got pushed through by the ANC/EFF/PA/Al Jamah/IFP coalition with ActionSA's backing was a deal with over R100 million in unjustified benefits to a company linked to Deputy President Paul Mashatile. I am doing everything in my power to get this heinous deal overturned. Please watch my colleague Hendrik Bodenstein's speech on the issue here. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1NAihzbJsS/

*Rubbish Collection*
They're still struggling and still behind but say yesterday's people should put their bins out today.

*Registration and Friday Twilight*
If the 2 above sections aren't enough to convince you that we need change urgently, I don't know what will. But to enact change we need to be registered correctly, head to check.da.org.za to check your status, please no matter how confident you are that you've always voted in the same place, just check.

Additionally I will be at Brewsky on Sandler from 14:15-15:15 today for Friday Twilights, see you there.

*Councillor Availability*
As usual I'll be offline from this evening until tomorrow night, Councillor Echeozonjoku is available for urgent issues in my absence.

Thanks
DA Councillor Daniel Schay

FROM THE DESK OF CLLR DANIEL SCHAY

Good morning fellow residents

*Rubbish Collection Update*
Many residents who were scheduled for refuse collection yesterday did not receive it. There are reports that JMPD lacks fuel for their vehicles, and Pikitup claims numerous truck breakdowns over the last few days. Whether this is a breakdown issue or code for a fuel shortage, the city is facing severe constraints. The missed areas from yesterday are supposed to be prioritized today alongside today’s regularly scheduled routes.

*Council Update & R100m+ Corruption Item*
Yesterday's Council session was chaotic, with a large volume of poor long-term strategies pushed through by the majority coalition. Today, Council continues, and a massive corruption item is on the agenda for later today. There is an attempt being made to push through over R100 million worth of benefits to an associate of Paul Mashatile. I will be speaking twice in Council today and we will be directly confronting this issue.

*Helen Zille Meeting Feedback & Voter Registration*
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting with Helen Zille last night; it was a highly constructive engagement. The core takeaway is clear: suburban voters must come out in large numbers to win Johannesburg.
If you are not registered correctly, or are choosing not to vote, you are keeping the city in this bubble of dysfunction. We have roughly four weeks left to fix this, closing just after the final registration weekend in August. Please do not leave it until tomorrow—take action today. Head to check.da.org.za

*Council Session Today*
Because I am in Council today, please no phone calls or voice notes. Please route all service delivery issues through the tracker or standard logging channels.

Thanks
DA Councillor Daniel Schay

POWER OUTAGE

*Power Outages*
I'm currently pleading with City Power to pay attention to outages in Sydenham (Raglan Street and surrounds) and Sunningdale (Greenlands Crescent).

The city power groups are absolute bedlam with winter hitting our strained power grid, I'll keep pleading though but currently information is flowing one way only.

Thanks

MESSAGE FROM CLLR DANIEL SCHAY

Good morning fellow residents

*Club Street Water Update*
Repairs were completed last night and the water is back on. If you do not have water yet, please message my tracker on WhatsApp at 0694702054 starting with the word "Hi". Let us know you are still without water so we can map it out and check for airlocks. There is a tremendous amount of water coming through the pipes, so if yours hasn't returned yet, it should hopefully be back within the next couple of hours.

*Edward Avenue Complexes*
The response to the registration forms sent out yesterday was unfortunately very poor. 1 in 3 complex residents are unregistered or registered incorrectly. I can spend every day and night chasing these issues and reporting back to you, but we need to meet halfway to change Joburg. Please take 30 seconds to fill out the 3-line form for your complex below so we can map the gaps, and please share the link in your complex group. Your information is safe and the sites are legitimate.

*Helen Zille Meeting — Tonight!*
A reminder that the meeting with Helen Zille is happening this evening (18:15 for 18:30 at Genesis). See you there even if you haven't rsvped you're still welcome.

*Council Meeting Today*
I am heading to Council today, so please no voice notes or phone calls. If you have any service delivery issues, please log them directly with the tracker number mentioned above. I will do my best to get back to everyone as soon as possible.

Thanks
DA Councillor Daniel Schay

WATER UPDATE

*Water update*
Some challenges here but they say they're still aiming for 21:00 to complete the work, add a few hours from there for water to return to everyone's taps.

WATER UPDATE
*Water update*
Team still working, their estimate is repairs should be completed overnight, so worst case scenario is water when you wake up. Let's hope they've just given themselves so leeway.
