The publication of Stage 16 draft load-shedding protocols by the National Rationalised Specifications Association of SA is the clearest admission yet by the ANC that they have failed to solve the load-shedding crisis. The only way SA will be able to lessen load-shedding is to allow for more private-sector participation.

The ANC pushed the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill through the parliamentary portfolio committee on basic education despite various objections by opposition parties and serious questions and concerns that remain unanswered. The DA objected to the motion of desirability based on the strong centralisation of power.

The first round of public hearings regarding the To***co Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill kicked offin the in North West. The Bill aims to regulate the to***co and va**ng industries by regulating the sale, advertising, and packaging of products. The DA has a number of concerns with the To***co Bill, including grouping different products together; the excessive focus on punishment; and granting the Minister overreaching powers.
