Congratulations to Dr Mandla Langa

Congratulations to Dr Mandla Langa, who has won the University of Johannesburg's Main Prize this week, for his 2021 novel; The Lost language of the Soul.

‘With insight and literary flair Langa forges a vision of the humane out of the violence, bloodshed and treachery of South Africa’s transition to democracy. This beautifully nuanced account of the liberation struggle is a must-read.’ – ZOË WICOMB.

Lorraine Sithole, a reading activist advocating for reading for lifelong enjoyment across all generations is the Vice-Chairperson of the International Board on Books for Young People South Africa; founder of BookWorms Book Club, a publisher, and writer. Longlisted for the 2017 Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Award and has contributed to these collections - Black Tax: Burden or Ubuntu edited by Niq Mhlongo and When Secrets Become Stories edited by Sue Nyathi. Lorraine was the programme manager for the South African Book Fair for three years, responsible for curating the literary programme and the Schools’ Programme.
