1. What is the Placement Period?
The 2023 Online Admissions Placement Period will be from 3 October 2022 – 30 November 2022. During this period, only parents who applied on gdeadmissions.gov.za for Grade 1 and/or Grade 8 will be receiving placement offers from the schools they applied to.
2. How do I get a placement offer?
Placement offers will be released via SMS, or when logging on to gdeadmissions.gov.za. Please note that placement offers will be released throughout the Placement Period, so we appeal with parents to be patient.
3. My applications are still being processed, what does this mean?
Parents whose applications are still being processed must wait to receive a placement offer accordingly.
4. I have not received a placement offer yet, what should I do?
Parents & guardians who have not received an SMS must not panic as they are welcome to log on to gdeadmissions.gov.za and check whether they have received an offer or not. NB: Offers will be sent out to applicants via SMS or on the GDE Admissions portal on a continuous basis from 3 October 2022 – 30 November 2022.
5. I have received an offer, what should I do next?
Parents who receive a placement offer during the Placement Period must log on to gdeadmissions.gov.za to accept the offer as final OR accept while awaiting other offers
6. I have received an offer, but the schools I want say ‘application is still being processed
Parents who receive an offer while their other applications are still are still being processed, are encouraged to accept that offer and not play the waiting game as it may leave their child without a school. NB: Applicants who do not accept placement offers within 7 school days will be auto-placed at the school that made an offer of placement.
7. My offer says ‘no further action is required’, what does that mean?
Placement offers which state that ‘placement has been finalized’ and ‘no further action is required’ must be regarded as successful placement at the mentioned school. There will be no need for a parent/guardian to access the system to accept an offer in that regard, because the child would be successfully placed at the mentioned school.
8. How do I reject an offer from a school I don’t want?
Parents and guardians are reminded that the offers they receive will be from schools that they applied to. When schools reach full capacity, applicants will be offered placement offers from schools with available space. However, if parents wish to object a placement offer, they are welcome to visit their nearest GDE District Office for assistance in that regard. However you cannot object to a school you have applied for.
