The Convener of the EFFYC National has raised a critical concern regarding the plight of Unisa students who are beneficiaries of NSFAS. He emphasized that these students deserve the same allowance as their counterparts in other open distance learning institutions, who currently receive far better support. It is deeply unjust that Unisa students are allocated less, while even recipients of the SSRD grant receive more financial assistance.

He is therefore calling on the NSFAS Board to urgently review and increase the allowance for Unisa NSFAS beneficiaries, ensuring fairness, equity, and consistency across all universities. The demand is clear: Unisa students must not be treated as second-class citizens in higher education.
