👥 RECAP: TAKING ACTION FOR THE SEDIBENG EAST COMMUNITY 👥

Today, the Gauteng Department of Education, led by MEC , met with the vibrant community of Ratanda, Heidelberg, for our It Takes a Village to Raise a Child community outreach programme.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up to share their views on education, sports, arts, culture, and recreation. To ensure we deliver the right solutions, we must start with an accurate diagnosis of our challenges.

During the engagement, we laid out 4 critical pillars that the department is actively addressing in our schools:

📊 1. Resource Allocation | Ensuring transparent tracking of exactly how much budget is allocated and precisely how those resources are utilized to benefit our learners.

🏫 2. Overcrowding & Infrastructure | Confronting capacity constraints head-on and resolving infrastructure bottlenecks in our classrooms.
💧 3. Basic Services | Securing consistent, reliable access to clean water and electricity across all schooling environments.

🛡️ 4. School Safety | Eradicating crime, violence, and safety threats to create a secure ecosystem where education can thrive.

As emphasized today: “If you go to a doctor with a slight cough and receive a misdiagnosis, it is a waste of vital resources.” We are committed to a precise diagnosis of our schools' needs so that no resource are misallocated. together with the Ratanda community, we are building a stronger foundation. Education First! 🇿🇦✨
