SENIOR CLERK (BUDGET AND REPORTING)
SALARY SCALE: R 170 591.62– R 221 447.90 PER ANNUM (T6)
APPLICABLE BENEFITS: MEDICAL AID, PENSION, 13TH CHEQUE, AND HOMEOWNER’S ALLOWANCE.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• 2 years’ experience in the financial environment, preferably in a budget environment
• Knowledge of registered financial systems will be an added advantage.
• Computer literacy in MS Office
• Knowledge of GRAP standards
• Understanding of the budgetary process
• Knowledge of MFMA and Treasury Regulations
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Compile financial reports for submission to Budget Accountant
• Assistant in preparation of quarterly returns
• Assist in preparation and submission of monthly budget reports.
• Undertake duties under the supervision and guidance of the Budget Accountant
• Assist with implementation of MSCOA.
• Prepare grant reconciliation.
• Assist in compilation of Annual Financial Statements
• Maintain financial system and internal control measures.
• Finalize the Compilation of annual and adjustment budgets and attend to audit queries.
• Ensuring that Back to Basics items are accurate and submitted timeously.
• Prepare VAT, Investment, and Grant Reconciliations
• Submit monthly and quarterly reports to provincial and National Treasury and other stakeholders.
• Compile financial reports for submission to management.

MUNICIPAL FINANCE MANAGEMENT INTERN (2- YEAR CONTRACT) (X1)
SALARY SCALE: R 100 000.00 PER ANNUM (ALL INCLUSIVE)
NO MUNICIPAL BENEFITS WILL APPLY (PENSION, MEDICAL AID ETC.) AND APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE THEIR OWN ARRANGEMENTS IN THIS RESPECT.
This post requires dedicated and highly motivated people who have obtained a 3- year tertiary qualification to participate in an Internship Programme that seeks to capacitate recent graduates for a career in Local Government finance. This Internship is the initiative of the National Treasury; with the objective to help build sufficient strategic management capacity at Local Government level.
A training programme is currently being developed which will expose the successful applicant to all facets of Local Government financial services. It must be noted that at the conclusion of the internship contract period, the Municipality is neither obliged to extend the contract period nor to offer permanent employment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12 Certificate
• B Com Degree / National Diploma with majors in Accounting and /or Auditing, or a relevant 3 -year tertiary qualification
• Computer Literacy
• Good Interpersonal, written, and verbal Communication skills
• Willingness to learn while working under pressure.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Perform Basic accounting function.
• Interpret finance legislation & policies.
• Process invoice payment from the capture and verification of the source documents.
• Manage the interface between the department payroll and accounting system.
• Undertake budget control on expenditure and revenue.
• Oversee expenditure management reconcile grant.
• Be trained in all sections of the Budget and Treasury Office.
