Single vehicle accident leaves 1 person in a critical condition.

Midlands EMS Howick crews, along with Midlands EMS Rescue Medics, were dispatched to the N3 Tweedie area following reports of a serious motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, it was found that a single vehicle had left the roadway and rolled multiple times, leaving one person entrapped in the vehicle.

Rescue Medics worked alongside paramedics to safely extricate and stabilize the patient, who had sustained critical injuries. Advanced Life Support interventions were performed on the scene while crews worked to prepare the patient for transport.

Due to the severity of the patient's condition, a decision was made to call in the assistance of the Netcare 911 Aeromedical Helicopter.

Once stabilized, the patient was airlifted to a Level 1 Trauma Hospital for further definitive care.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not known at this stage.

Domestic dispute leaves 1 dead, 3 injured.

Midlands EMS crews, along with Midlands EMS K9 Rescue Medics, were dispatched to a residence in the Merrivale area following reports of a domestic-related incident.

Upon arrival, paramedics assessed the scene and found that one person showed no signs of life. Sadly, nothing more could be done for the patient, who was declared deceased on the scene.

Three other patients, a mother, a 9-year-old child, and a 2-year-old child, were found to have sustained injuries during the incident. Advanced medical care was initiated on scene by paramedics before all three patients were carefully stabilized and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment and observation.

The scene was secured, and Midlands EMS personnel worked alongside local authorities to ensure the injured patients received the necessary care as quickly as possible.

Local authorities remained on scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Midlands EMS Rescue Medics, along with Midlands EMS crews, were dispatched to the Mpophomeni area after reports of a diesel tank explosion whilst being worked on.

Upon arrival, crews found that one person had sustained severe life-threatening injuries as a result of the explosion. Advanced Life Support interventions were immediately initiated, and the patient was placed on a manual ventilator at the scene due to the critical nature of their injuries.

๐Ÿšจ DID YOU KNOW? ๐Ÿšจ

When disaster strikes, every second counts.

Midlands EMS is proud to operate a Department of Health approved Rescue Vehicle โ€” a highly specialised resource that is among the very few of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal and the only one of its kind within the entire uMgungundlovu District Municipality and surrounding areas.

This rescue vehicle is specifically equipped to respond to complex and challenging emergencies, including serious motor vehicle collisions, technical rescues, structural incidents, and other situations where specialised rescue equipment and trained personnel can mean the difference between life and death.

Adding to its capabilities, the vehicle carries its own water supply, allowing crews to undertake initial fire suppression efforts and help protect lives and property while awaiting the arrival of fire services.

Midlands EMS stands ready with five qualified rescue members trained to respond when communities are at their most vulnerable. Whether supporting our ambulance crews, assisting other emergency services, or responding directly to rescue and emergency incidents, our rescue team is prepared to answer the call.

Further strengthening our rescue capability, this unit is backed by our two highly trained operational K9s, K9 Lumo and K9 Hunter, who stand ready for deployment on search and rescue missions, tactical operations, and specialised emergency responses. Together with their handlers, they provide an invaluable asset in locating missing persons, assisting in difficult terrain searches, and supporting emergency operations where every minute matters.

This vehicle is more than just a rescue vehicle โ€” it represents our commitment to ensuring that specialised rescue capabilities are available to the communities of the Midlands when they are needed most.

Prepared. Equipped. Backed by K9s. Ready to Respond. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบ
