๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ”ฅ Midlands EMS Rescue Vehicle โ€“ Ready for All Emergencies ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšจ

Yesterdayโ€™s powerful winds and dry conditions put our crews to the ultimate test. Across the KZN Midlands, we faced multiple emergencies in rapid succession:

- ๐ŸŒณ Trees falling on people who urgently needed medical care
- ๐Ÿšง Roads blocked by fallen trees, cutting off access to communities
- ๐Ÿ”ฅ Veld fires spreading quickly in the dry weather

Our Rescue Vehicle rose to the challenge. This specialized unit is designed to respond to any emergency, equipped for:
- ๐Ÿš— Vehicle extrication
- ๐Ÿง— Rope rescue
- โš™๏ธ Technical rescue
- ๐Ÿ’ง Fire support with an onboard water tank
- ๐Ÿš‘ And much moreโ€ฆ

The addition of a water tank makes this vehicle even more versatile, allowing our crews to assist with fire suppression during veld fires and provide immediate support in situations where water access is limited.

Throughout the day, our team moved seamlessly from one crisis to another โ€” rescuing trapped patients, clearing dangerous roadways, and tackling fire outbreaks. Their courage, skill, and dedication ensured that lives were saved and communities were protected.

This Rescue Vehicle is one of very few in KwaZulu-Natal, and the only one serving the KZN Midlands. With an early and dry fire season predicted, its presence is not just important โ€” it is essential for safeguarding our region.

๐Ÿ‘ We are incredibly proud of our crews for their bravery and commitment.
๐Ÿ™ To the people of the Midlands: thank you for your ongoing support. Together, we are stronger, and with this Rescue Vehicle, we are better prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead.

A mountain bike rider was left in serious condition after an accident in the forest.

Midlands EMS Howick crews were dispatched to Currys Post Plantation for the incident. The rugged terrain made access to the patient difficult, requiring specialized rescue equipment to reach and stabilize them.

On arrival, paramedics found the rider in a serious condition requiring urgent advanced life support treatment.

Once stabilized, the patient was transported to a nearby specialist hospital for further care.

Hijacked truck recovered yesterday afternoon.

This vehicle was hijacked in the morning in the Mooi River area while fully loaded with diesel.

The driver was stripped of his clothing and left on the side of the road. He later managed to make his way to the Mooi River Police Station, where a hijacking case was opened.

The company was notified, and it was later established that the suspects had placed jamming devices inside the truck and activated them, rendering the tracking system untraceable.

The truck was recovered in the afternoon in the Boston area, shortly after 4:30pm. The vehicle had been emptied, but it had not been burnt. A fire extinguisher had been discharged inside the cab, believed to have been done to conceal fingerprints.

The vehicle was towed to the pound in Pietermaritzburg for further investigation. All necessary authorities were on scene.
