On 4 September 2026, Hangberg Library celebrated National Book Week by hosting a programme with two local ECD centres, Little Feet and Jack and Jill. The children enjoyed an interactive and engaging session, which was further enhanced by a special visit from LiBee, who interacted with the children and contributed to the excitement of the programme. The initiative promoted early literacy, a love of reading and positive engagement with the library.

🌸 HANGBERG CELEBRATES WOMEN

Music, dance and plenty of smiles filled the Hangberg Sports and Recreation Centre as senior citizens came together for a special Women’s Month celebration.

From a lively performance by local children to meaningful moments of community connection, it was a celebration that brought generations together. ❤️

Hangberg Library hosted an engaging Saturday programme featuring a fun-filled game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey, followed by interactive Xbox gaming activities. Senior Citizens Wellness Programme

Hangberg Library hosted a meaningful community outreach programme for the Golden Oldies and Hangberg Seniors Club, in partnership with City Health. The programme focused on promoting personal hygiene, self-care and the health risks associated with smoking, providing seniors with valuable information to support their overall well-being.

The programme also included an enjoyable entertainment session led by Ricardo Dance Guru, who engaged the seniors through lively dancing and movement, and using one of our ECD's to entertain the seniors, creating a fun and energetic atmosphere. The event concluded on a warm and social note, with some of the seniors enjoying tea and fellowship at Hangberg Library

Reading Programme at Hangberg Library

On Saturday, 15 August 2026, Hangberg Library staff members Donicke Guenantin and Una Snyders hosted a reading programme for young children.

The programme encouraged the children to develop a love for reading. Children were given an opportunity to explore books, improve their listening skills, and participate in meaningful discussions.

The session was a positive and enjoyable experience, promoting early literacy, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for reading.
