| Today, GCIS collaborated successfully with the Free State Department of Education and Civil Society Organisations including different Early Childhood Development Centres in Namahadi to commemorate and bid official farewell to this year's Child Protection Month through an educational awareness program targeting parents with children in various ECD centres under the national theme of "Working Together in Ending the Violence Against Children" at Zomba Sports Ground in Namahadi, Mafube Local Municipality.

| Because Communications is service delivery, GCIS formed part of today's Special Council Meeting by Ngwathe LM at Master Nakedi Multipurpose Centre in Tumahole where the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe: Cllr Victoria de Beer delivered the State of Municipal Address as well as the 2026/27 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget.

GCIS provided communication support to this public engagements to track and assess IDP priorities so as to provide needed strategic support to the review of Municipal Communication Strategic Framework and alignment of its Communication Plan.

| GCIS will lead it's local stakeholders to engage the organised youth from Namahadi and Frankfort, Mafube Local Municipality on Monday, 25 May 2025, to engage with various government departments, entities and agencies on "30 Years Anniversary of the Constitution and Milestones of Freedom".

The Office of the Premier through its Skills Development Desk will partner in the intiative calling on N6 Certificated Mechanical or Electrical Engineers to bring along CVs to this awareness program to be considered for available learnership opportunities.

| Today the Provincial and Local Liason Chief Directorate of the GCIS joined forces to lobby the community of Tumahole in an activation at Fezile Dabi Sports Centre in Ngwathe LM to follow virtually the GCIS 2026 Budget Vote that was to be tabled by the Minister in the Presidency, Ms Khumbudzo Ntshavheni along with her Deputy Minister, Mr Kenny Morolong at Good Hope Chambers, Cape Town.

This interprovincial activation between Free State and Gauteng Provincial offices was successfully led by the Director of PLL, Ms Moepeng Tshwane outlining how the department will support the priorities of the 7th Administration while prioritising strategic communication on:

- Tackling misinformation, disinformation and mal information
- The 2026 Local Government Elections
- Growing the Economy and Creating Employment
- GBVF, Crime Prevention and Vandalism among other communication projects.

| On the last day of Freedom Month, GCIS collaborated with Parliamentary Constituency Office, Community Based Organisations and Non-Government Organisations as well as Mafube Local Municipality on a Freedom Month Public Education and Awareness programme using insights and education from various government departments in the JCPSC (Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster) to create crime prevention and safety awareness to Namahadi senior citizens.

| Today, 23 April 2026, GCIS Free State Provincial hosted the Executive Mayor of the Metsimaholo Local Municipality, Cllr Jack Malindi at its On-Air Local Government Thursdays talkshow on Metsimaholo FM where municipal service delivery plans and programs were discussed along with the ongoing 2026/27 Draft Budget Public Participation drive led by the Executive Mayor across different municipal towns, townships and wards.
